Good News Everyone! Trump Claims Trade Talks With China Are Happening...Maybe?

A Meeting This Morning...Or Was It?

Good news everyone! It seems our esteemed President Trump has declared that trade talks with China are underway! Or at least that's what he *claims*. He vaguely stated "They had a meeting this morning," but wouldn't say *who* 'they' are. 'It doesn't matter who 'they' is,' he declared. Well it matters to *me*! I'm a scientist! I need to know these things or how else will I build my next Smell O Scope?

China Says "Bite My Glossy Metal Ass!"

But hold on to your hats because China is singing a different tune entirely. They’re saying that no such talks have occurred. They’re calling it 'false news'! False I say! Like the time I tried to sell my patented Smell O Vision to the internet. I tell you it’s enough to make a scientist throw his hands up and declare 'Sweet zombie Jesus!' What is the truth?!

Lower Level Shenanigans

Apparently some lower level folks have been chatting. A White House official (who probably also knows about the secret who 'they' is) mentioned some in person talks and a phone call. But a phone call?! That's hardly a breakthrough. Why back in my day we used carrier pigeons. Now *that's* a communication system with class! And usually with pigeon poop...

Uncertainty: The Only Constant in the Universe

All this conflicting information is creating quite the pickle for the global economy. It's all quite upsetting! Soaring import costs squeezed exporters...it's a mess! Like the time I invented the universal solvent only to realize I had nothing to keep it in. Oh the irony! It was also very corrosive. To the point of destroying 1/2 of the planet! Oops.

The Bessent Factor

Ah but there's a glimmer of hope perhaps? Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent (not to be confused with a Bessent table unless it is the same table) suggested that these excessively high tariffs need to come down. De escalation is necessary he says! Well I certainly hope so. Otherwise we're all doomed! DOOOOOMED!

145% Tariffs?! Blernsball!!!

The White House slapped a whopping 145% tariff on Chinese goods! That’s outrageous! China naturally responded in kind with their own duties and restrictions on critical minerals. It's like watching a game of Blernsball only with higher stakes and less… well less fun actually. Now where did I put my Brain Slug?
