Great Scott! They're Actually Doing It!

Good news everyone! Your old pal Professor Farnsworth here reporting from the year 3000… wait no it’s still 2024? Blast! Well close enough. Seems Joby Aviation those whippersnappers have actually gone and done it! They're launching flying taxis in Dubai! My word! It's about time we embraced technologies that make me say 'To shreds you say?' to traffic jams.

First Taxi has Landed

According to the news Joby Aviation's stock did a little jig – jumped about 12% – as they get closer to launching their electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) service in the United Arab Emirates. They've even delivered their first aircraft! I haven't been this excited since I invented the Smell O Scope which by the way is still in beta so don't ask.

A Global Revolution

That CEO fella JoeBen Bevirt says it's a 'monumental step' and a 'launchpad for a global revolution.' A global revolution you say? Hmmm. Is that anything like the time I tried to launch a global revolution with the What If Machine? Let's just say it involved a lot of alternate realities and a very confused Zoidberg. Whoop whoop whoop!

Exclusive Rights?

Apparently Joby has an exclusive deal to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years. Six years! That's like an eternity in future time! It seems they're already building vertiports which sounds suspiciously like a place where you might accidentally invent a doomsday device. Oh dear oh dear.

Money Money Money!

And hold on to your hats because Saudi Arabian firm Abdul Latif Jameel is throwing around a billion dollars for up to 300 of these eVTOLs! A billion dollars? That's enough to buy... well I'm not sure what but it's a lot! I suppose it will fund some new technology to make Fry less stupid. Unlikely!

To the Future!

These air taxis taking off like helicopters are all the rage these days. Of course there are 'regulatory and safety hurdles,' but that's just bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. If I can invent a Fing Longer I'm sure they can figure out air traffic control. And with Trump's pilot program maybe we'll see these things buzzing around the US soon too! I'll see you all at the vertiport with my suitcase and bended knees! Wernstrom!
