Wait What Just Happened?
Okay besties so the Supreme Court just dropped a ruling and honestly my first thought was 'Is this lore?' But no apparently it's real life. Basically the Court strongly implied that Federal Reserve board members are like super protected from getting fired by the president. This whole thing started because our boy ex President Trump tried to fire some peeps from other federal agencies and the Court was like 'Hold up!' *adjusts headset* Gotta stay focused here chat!
The Fed: Too Big to Fire?
So the Supreme Court's ruling was all like 'The Federal Reserve is special okay? It's a 'uniquely structured quasi private entity'!' Which sounds like something straight out of a fantasy novel TBH. Apparently this 'distinct historical tradition' gives them extra protection. It's giving 'main character energy,' you know? Like they have plot armor or something. Meanwhile other agencies are getting yeeted out. Feelsbadman.
Justice Kagan's Sass Level: OVER 9000!
Justice Elena Kagan bless her heart was NOT having it. She wrote a whole dissent basically saying 'Um excuse me but Trump has no legal right to do this!' She even called out the majority for making a special exception for the Federal Reserve. It's like when someone tries to cheat in a game and you're just like 'Nah fam I saw that!' She even dropped a sick burn saying the Supreme Court just made up the Fed exception to save Humphrey's Executor basically a law that has been active for 90 years! Absolute savage.
Powell's Power Move: 'You Can't Fire Me I Quit!'... Not Really
Remember when Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell was all 'I won't resign if Trump asks me to!'? Well turns out he was right. Powell was like 'You have no power here!' *Gandalf Voice* It's nice to see some people have the confidence to stand up and say 'No'!
So What Does This Even Mean?
Honestly? It's a legal drama that would make even Lirik's head spin. Basically it *might* be harder for a president to fire Federal Reserve members but other agency members are still fair game. It's all very confusing and political which is why I usually stick to streaming and yelling at my teammates in VALORANT. *sigh* Life is strange.
The Takeaway: Stay Hydrated and Vote!
Look I'm not a legal expert okay? I'm just a girl who likes to game and make content. But if there's one thing I've learned it's that politics is messy. So stay informed stay hydrated and most importantly...VOTE! And maybe just maybe we can make sense of this whole thing. Also don't forget to use code POKI in the item shop. *wink*
