Hold Up What Happened?
Okay stream fam lemme drop some knowledge bombs. So SoftBank right? They just yeeted 21.5 million T Mobile shares onto the market. FOR $4.8 BILLION DOLLARS. That's like… a LOT of boba. They sold 'em for $224 a pop which is a lil' discount from what T Mobile was worth on Monday. Don't worry I won't quiz you on this later. Unless... should I?
SoftBank Still Got That Bag Tho
Even after this massive sell off SoftBank is still T Mobile's second biggest shareholder. Like chill they still got plenty of subs… I mean *shares*. Deutsche Telekom is still the OG big boss there. Think of it as… SoftBank just donated some gifted subs to the market. How generous of them! I bet they are rolling in dough just like me.
Sprint ing Away With the Cash
Remember Sprint? Yeah SoftBank used to own that. When Sprint merged with T Mobile there was this whole agreement thingy where SoftBank was supposed to get even *more* T Mobile shares later. Like a bonus round of 'who can hold the most stock'! And guess what? They did! So they basically got free T Mobile stocks worth around $7.59 billion. Now they sell some and make even MORE money. Stonks!
Why Tho? (In My Valley Girl Voice)
Okay so why would SoftBank do this? Your guess is as good as mine but probably to diversify. Gotta spread that wealth around you know? Can't put all your eggs in one… wireless carrier. It's like when I try a new game instead of just playing Valorant all day. Gotta keep things fresh friends! And gotta keep your wallet healthy too! Do you think they're going to spend it on more Valorant skins?
T Mobile's Like "It's Fine We're Fine"
Neither SoftBank nor T Mobile wanted to comment to Reuters because everything is perfectly normal. But don't worry my sources (aka Bloomberg) already spilled the tea. T Mobile is probably just like 'Okay bye Felicia!' and carrying on. They're still making bank after all. And hopefully they'll use some of that profit to improve their service... *cough cough*.
Investing for Dummies (Starring Me!)
So what's the takeaway here? Even big companies like SoftBank make moves to manage their money. It's all about diversification playing the long game and… you know… stonks! Should I start giving financial advice? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I'm qualified after reading one news article. Just kidding... maybe. But hey maybe you should invest in something you believe in even if it's just more boba. Keep it real stream!
