The Tremors of Bureaucracy
Hmph. Another tale of woe arrives at my doorstep. This time it involves mortals in a land called Myanmar. Apparently the earth there decided to rearrange itself causing much… disturbance. But the true quake lies not in the ground but in the halls of power. The Trump administration led by a man whose hair is as baffling as the Labyrinth itself has decided to cut aid. Three aid workers those meant to mend the broken were tossed aside like discarded armor after battle. Boy! This smacks of foolishness. Were these mortals not to help those in need? Perhaps these administrators need reminding of their purpose… but alas I have no time for such trivialities.
The Price of Austerity: More Than Just Spartan Rage?
A woman named Wong speaks of demoralization. Ha! Try fighting Ares and then tell me about demoralization. But I digress. She claims these officials are being let go and that Trump's government pledged $9 million a paltry sum considering the destruction while simultaneously crippling the very agency meant to deliver it USAID. It seems Billionaire Musk the one who wants to leave the planet has been slashing funds like I once slashed through hordes of Athenians. This is the price of efficiency they say. But what good is efficiency when it leaves the innocent to suffer? This is not progress; this is merely rearranging the debris in a graveyard.
Sleeping in the Rubble: A Familiar Bed?
These aid workers Wong states sleep on the streets amidst the ruins. A hard bed indeed. Reminds me of Sparta before… everything. Though I do not understand why anyone would sleep outdoors voluntarily it is certainly not the choice I would have made I would rather face the monsters than sleep in the elements. Residents fear aftershocks. Fear is a tool boy but should not be the master. But for those who have lost everything what other choice do they have? A pity but pity is a weakness that must be shed in order to continue onward. I felt pity when I killed my family... but the guilt is something that can never be shaken...
Rubio's Lament: A Senator's Cry for Help?
Secretary of State Rubio a man whose name sounds like a weak beverage claims Myanmar is a difficult place to operate. The military government he says dislikes the United States. As if that is a surprise! The gods themselves despise each other and they're supposed to be immortal and wise. Regardless such petty squabbles should not hinder aid to those in need. He calls on other wealthy nations to assist. Passing the buck are we? Is the United States shirking its responsibilities like Zeus shirks his marital vows? Is it truly wise to abandon the people in their hour of need? I will not pass judgement; I simply state what is true...
China and Russia Answer the Call: Competition or Compassion?
While the Trump administration fiddles with its budget China Russia and India rush in with assistance. A political game perhaps? Or genuine compassion? It matters not. What matters is that aid is being provided. The motives are irrelevant if the outcome is the same: the injured are healed the hungry are fed and the lost are sheltered. It is what my son Atreus would do. He has more empathy than I do and in turn is more valuable.
Boy! What is the Moral of this Bloody Story?
So the tale ends with the innocent suffering the powerful squabbling and the world watching. A familiar story repeated across countless ages. Is there a lesson to be learned? Perhaps. But I am no philosopher. I am a warrior. And warriors act. But sometimes action comes with the need to wait I hate waiting; I would rather strike now but patience is the key to the greatest outcome... What I feel is the weight of past sins and the weight of the burden of the people.

Musk needs to focus on saving the planet, not just cutting budgets.

I hope other countries step up and fill the gap.

This is outrageous! How can they cut aid during a disaster?

This is why we need more compassion in government.
