Yields? What Yields? This Ain't No Jungle
Heard some whispers about these things called 'Treasury yields'. Sounds boring right? Like waiting for a chopper that ain't coming. But apparently these numbers decide if you're gonna have enough to eat next winter. Ten year yield's up a smidge – 4.288% they say. Two year yield's hanging tough at 3.786%. One basis point whatever that is equals 0.01%. Makes about as much sense as politicians promising peace.
Powell's Predicament: Damned If You Do...
This Powell fella he's got a problem. Says the Fed might be caught between a rock and a hard place – controlling inflation and trying to keep the economy from going belly up. Reminds me of being pinned down in 'Nam. You move you die. You don't move you die. "They drew first blood not me". But Powell and those guys over at the FED always draw first blood.
Trump's Tariff Tango: A Game of Chicken?
Trump's tariffs are messing things up according to Powell. Expects inflation to go up and growth to go down. Seems like Trump is trying to win a war with tariffs when all he is doing is hurting the people he is supposed to protect. Powell says they might have to decide which problem to fix first and how long it'll take. Sounds like choosing between a rusty knife and a dull axe. Either way you're gonna get hurt.
Dual Mandate? Sounds Like a Double Cross
Powell blabbered about 'dual mandate goals' being in 'tension'. Translation? They don't know what they're doing. It's like trying to fight a war on two fronts with one rifle. "To survive a war you gotta become war." I do not see that happening with Powell and his Fed goons all talk no action.
Deutsche Bank Weighs In: More Talk Than Action
Some fancy pants analysts at Deutsche Bank say Powell isn't rushing to do anything. Figures. Politicians never do. They're all talk no action. Powell thinks the markets are just 'struggling with a lot of uncertainty.' Tell that to the guy on the street trying to feed his family. Markets in the green while the people are in the red. 'Live for nothing or die for something.' I'm still trying to figure out what is worth dying for nowadays.
Jobless Claims: Just a Number Soldier
Jobless claims came in lower than expected which is probably something nice they are saying. Numbers are just numbers. What matters is the people behind them. They all look at you and they see what they want to see. You know "Hope is a good thing maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies."
