No Choice No Surrender: Skechers Bails Out
They pushed 'em they pushed 'em too far! Skechers those masters of comfort and questionable design choices are getting bought out. Seems 3G Capital some private equity big shots are scooping them up for $63 a share. That's a 30% premium folks. Makes you wonder what kind of hurt Skechers was really in. Greenberg says it's a partnership but I've seen partnerships before. Usually ends with someone getting a knife in the back.
Trade War Casualties: Another One Bites the Dust
Remember what I told you kid? 'Live for nothing or die for something.' Well Skechers is trying to live but the trade war with China is makin' it real hard. They even whined to Trump about tariffs! Guess those comfy shoes ain't so comfy when you gotta pay extra for 'em. Two thirds of their business is outside the U.S. so they figure they can take the pain. Let's see if that holds true.
3G Capital: Friends or Foe?
This 3G Capital they've been eyeing Skechers for years like a hawk watches a wounded rabbit. They say tariffs are just a bump in the road and Skechers is still a good bet. Long term outlook is attractive they say. Maybe they got a point maybe they don't. In my world you trust no one. Especially not guys in suits with briefcases full of cash.
Greenberg's Last Stand?
Good ol' Greenberg the head honcho at Skechers is sticking around. Says he'll keep running the show. But let me tell you something son when the money men move in things change. He might be the CEO but he ain't calling the shots anymore. It's a jungle out there and even the biggest gorilla can get taken down.
Nike and Adidas: Still on Top
Skechers might be the third biggest but they're still chasing Nike and Adidas. This buyout it might help them catch up or it might bury them deeper. Time will tell. But remember 'To survive a war you gotta become war.' Skechers needs to get meaner tougher if they want to survive this.
Will Skechers Survive? Place Your Bets
So the big question: will Skechers make it? Will they thrive under new management? Or will they become another forgotten brand gathering dust in the corporate graveyard? Only time will tell kid. Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the shoe game is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Maybe they'll finally make a decent pair of running shoes.

Hope this doesn't mean the shoes get even uglier.
