Muggle Money Makes the World Go Round (Or Fly Apparently)

Honestly sometimes I think Muggles are finally catching up. Joby Aviation a company dedicated to those electric vertical takeoff and landing aircrafts (eVTOLs – honestly the acronyms!) has received a whopping $250 million galleons… I mean dollars from Toyota. Yes *that* Toyota. It seems even they're convinced that flying around like we do on broomsticks – or dare I say in enchanted cars – is the future.

A Previously Announced Prophecy Fulfilled

This isn’t some sudden magical revelation. No no. This is part of a previously announced prophecy… *ahem* *deal* from October. Toyota promised $500 million in total all to help Joby get their contraptions certified and commercially produced. Imagine flying to work instead of dealing with the Underground! Though I must say Floo Powder is still much more efficient. Less chance of mechanical failure you see.

JoeBen Bevirt: The Muggle Dumbledore of Aviation?

Joby's CEO and founder a Mr. JoeBen Bevirt seems rather pleased. "We're already seeing the benefit of working with Toyota in streamlining manufacturing processes and optimizing design," he declared. Optimizing design! Sounds like something out of a particularly challenging Charms exam doesn’t it? But he does have a point even Hermione Granger would be impressed with such strategic partnership.

Deepening Integration: Not Just a Potions Ingredient

Joby also claims this deal reinforces their "mutual commitment to deepening integration and delivering next generation travel to the global market." Deepening integration! Honestly you'd think they were brewing a particularly complex potion. But I suppose getting these… flying cars… off the ground (literally!) requires a similar level of precision and dedication.

From Helicopters to Hovercrafts: A Technological Evolution

Apparently these eVTOLs take off and land like helicopters. A rather primitive method if you ask me. Still developers claim this technology will reduce traffic congestion and emissions. Which is all well and good I suppose. Less smog is certainly a positive thing even for those of us who can simply vanish elsewhere. Although Harry does need to learn to drive maybe this will be helpful.

United Airlines Enters the Fray: A Flight of Fancy?

And of course United Airlines is involved. Partnered with some other company called Archer Aviation to launch an airport air taxi service. Honestly the Muggles are just obsessed with flying! Though I must admit the idea of a quick jaunt to Diagon Alley without the Floo Network being compromised... is tempting. Still constant vigilance!
