Yabba Dabba Doo! Fred Flintstone here reporting live from… well my living room in Bedrock. Wilma's nagging me to take out the dino garbage but more important stuff is happening! Seems like some big shot politicians are planning to slap HUGE tariffs on auto parts! Tariffs you say? That's like charging extra for the rocks that hold up my house! And get this that could mean no more speedy rides in our foot powered cars. This has got me more worried than when Barney almost beat me at bowling!
Bedrock's Best Unite! (Even Those Pesky Executives)
Now you know I ain't one for fancy meetings and stuffed shirts. But even I gotta admit something fishy is going on. Six of the biggest auto groups are teaming up! That's like the Water Buffalo Lodge the Loyal Order of Dinosaurs and the Bedrock Volunteer Fire Department all agreeing on something! They're writing letters to those Washington fellas saying these tariffs could shut down factories and leave folks jobless. Can you imagine Bedrock without carvers and rock polishers? That's like Bedrock without bronto burgers!
Suppliers in the Stone Age? Not on My Watch!
These auto part suppliers are already struggling like me trying to keep up with Barney on payday! They can't afford these extra costs. These tariffs are like pouring concrete in the gears of the whole system! One tiny rock out of place and the whole thing grinds to a halt! They're saying that if one supplier goes belly up it can shut down entire car factories like when my bowling ball gets stuck in the pinsetter.
Trump to the Rescue? Maybe…
Apparently ol' President Trump is thinking about easing up on these tariffs. Like offering a bone to Dino! He says he might 'help' some car companies that need time to switch to using parts made here. That's good news 'cause right now these tariffs are like trying to run a marathon in stone shoes! Let's hope he does something before we're all back to riding dinosaurs to work! Wilma would be furious if I had to sell my car!
Millions of Missing Motors!
The experts the ones who know about this stuff (unlike me) are saying these tariffs could lead to millions fewer cars sold! And the cars that *are* sold will cost more than a week's worth of bronto burgers at the drive in! They're talking about over $100 billion in extra costs! That's enough clams to buy every bowling ball in Bedrock!
Rerouting Rocks Takes Time!
These groups say that they support making more stuff here in the good ol' US of A (or you know Bedrock) but you can't just change where things come from overnight. It's like telling me to stop eating bronto burgers for breakfast! It's gonna take some time. So let's hope these politicians listen up and don't drive us all back to the Stone Age... literally! Yabba Dabba Doo... or Don't!
