Great Gazoo! More Boats Than Dino!

Yabba Dabba Doo! Fred Flinstone here reporting live from Bedrock... well not really Bedrock but Los Angeles! Seems like we got more boats comin' in than I got dino ribs at a Water Buffalo Lodge meeting! These here boats from China are beelining it to our ports faster than Wilma can spend my money at a rock fashion sale! Heard tell it's 'cause of some tariff thingy President Trump is cookin' up. August 12th is the deadline so everyone's hustling like Barney trying to outrun me after I 'borrowed' his bowling ball!

Coast Guard: 'Hold Your Horses!'

Now these fancy pants ship trackers are sayin' the numbers are higher than a brontosaurus neck. Friday saw 64 Saturday 68 and Sunday another 64. Captain Kip a big shot at MX SoCal says this is the most ship traffic we've seen since January 2025! Yabba Dabba Doo! But here's the kicker folks. They're all comin' from everywhere! Asia Oakland San Diego even places like the Panama Canal and South America! Sounds like a vacation itinerary for the whole Bedrock gang!

No Need to Panic: Port Authorities

Don't go yellin' "WAHOO!" just yet folks. The bigwigs are sayin' it ain't a "surge." They expected this little influx see? And get this orders are already slowing down! So no need to worry about a Wilma sized traffic jam at the ports. Seems like the ol' trade war has got folks putting the brakes on their orders. The boats that ARE comin' in? Not even full! Guess everyone's playin' it cool... cooler than a dip in the ol' swimming hole on a hot Bedrock day!

Long Beach Ready to Rumble!

Mario Cordero the head honcho at the Port of Long Beach tells them fancy CNBC folks that they're ready for anything! They been chatting with the terminal folks and the labor guys makin' sure everyone's got their ducks in a row... or should I say their dinos in a cave? Seems like a bunch of sailings got canceled earlier this year but that's slowin' down. Cordero says "We welcome the additional cargo," and hopes this trade stuff gets straightened out. Me too! All this uncertainty is giving me a bigger headache than tryin' to understand Pebbles' math homework!

Los Angeles Ports: Smooth as a Dino Egg!

Over at the Port of Los Angeles Gene Seroka says they're seein' a little bit of that peak season action but nothin' too crazy. Retailers ain't stockin' up for Thanksgiving like they used to. Seems like they got plenty of room to manage the cargo even less on the docks today than during that whole Covid kerfuffle. These incoming ships are expected to be full so everything should run as smooth as a dino egg!

Good News for the Working Stiff

Now here's the good stuff! This increase in containers means more work for the truckers the railroad fellas and the warehouse crew. They get paid by the load see? Seroka also said they're gettin' more folks back to work on the docks. But even with this boost things are still slower than usual for June. And with those trade deadlines looming who knows what's gonna happen? All I know is I need a bronto burger and a nap! Yabba Dabba Doo!
