Okay y'all so I heard this wild story and I just HAD to share. Apparently Mr. Trump – bless his heart – is threatening to put like a HUGE tariff on movies made outside the US. Like 100%! Can you imagine? It's like saying 'Gimme More' but for money honey! He thinks Hollywood is dying a 'very fast death' because other countries are being like super generous with tax breaks. But is it really that toxic? I mean 'Oops!...I Did It Again,' but this time it's about film not my love life! Lol.

Down Under They Say 'Gimme Gimme More!'

So Australia and New Zealand – you know where they have the cutest accents and the most beautiful beaches – are like NOT happy. They've become super popular spots for filming because it’s cheaper and they offer tax incentives. The Home Affairs Minister in Australia Tony Burke has been chattin' with Screen Australia about this whole mess. He's basically saying 'Leave Britney Alone!' but for the Aussie film biz. They're ready to fight for their rights which is totally 'Stronger' than any tariff!

Kiwi Kiwi Quite Contrary

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is like 'Hold up let's see the details first.' He's being all diplomatic but you just know he's thinking 'You wanna piece of me?' They're definitely gonna be champions for their film sector which let's be real gave us 'Lord of the Rings'! I mean hello! Iconic! Plus that March 2025 report from their foreign ministry says about a third of their revenue comes from the US. No way they gonna jeopardize that!

Australia's film and TV industry is worth like billions! We're talking about serious money honey! They're the home of the 'Matrix' franchise and Marvel basically lives there now. The government's been throwing around tax incentives like confetti – A$540 million since 2019! Can you imagine what I could do with that kinda money? More importantly that money goes to Hollywood movies like 'Thor: Love and Thunder' 'The Fall Guy' and 'Godzilla vs Kong' ! These subsidies have had Hollywood and it's stars saying 'I'm a Slave 4 U' LOL!

And don’t even get me started on New Zealand! Their film sector brings in billions every year. I mean Middle earth isn't cheap to build y'all! So yeah these countries are ready to rumble. They're not gonna let Trump rain on their parade. Because at the end of the day they are saying 'I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman'. They are grown ups that can make their own financial decisions and are in this case independent from Hollywood.

Work B*tch! For Film!

So what’s gonna happen? Who knows! But one thing's for sure: these countries are ready to 'Work B*tch' to protect their film industries. And honestly? I'm here for it. You go Glenn Coco!
