A Papal Farewell Fit for a Doll
Hi Dreamhouse dwellers! Barbie here reporting live (kinda) from... well not the Vatican sadly. But I’ve been following the news about Pope Francis's funeral and even I with my perpetually sunny disposition had to dab away a tear with my tiny perfectly manicured hand. It seems like everyone from presidents to princes showed up to say goodbye which is super impressive even by Malibu standards! He was known for caring about those on the 'peripheries,' which I guess means not living in a fabulous Dreamhouse with an endless supply of pink convertibles. But hey everyone deserves a little sparkle in their lives right?
Fashionable Faith: Coffin Couture and Selfie Sticks
Can you believe 250,000 people flocked to the funeral? That's like the entire population of Malibu ten times over! Apparently the mood was both somber and festive which is a tricky combo to pull off even for me. Mourners were even taking selfies! I mean I get it a photo op is a photo op but maybe keep the duck face to a minimum dolls. Still the hymns must have been beautiful. I wonder if they had a choir? Maybe I can convince Skipper to start one. We could call it 'Barbie and the Babes for Belief!' Too much?
Homilies and Hearts: A Pope of the People
Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re gave this super long and heartfelt speech about Pope Francis being a 'pope of the people.' Apparently he was all about reaching out to the 'least among us' with a super casual 'hang loose' kind of vibe. It's like he knew how to make everyone feel welcome no matter who they were or where they came from. He even brought migrants home with him! Talk about hospitality! My Dreamhouse has a strict 'no boys allowed' policy (sorry Ken!) but I'm starting to think maybe I need to rethink my interior design choices. A girl can change right?
Francis's Final Fiesta: A Pastor Not a Power Broker
Pope Francis was a total DIY queen! He actually planned his own funeral. He wanted to show that he was a 'mere pastor' and not some 'powerful man of this world.' It sounds like he really wanted to shake things up Barbie style! He wanted a 'poor church for the poor,' which is super inspiring. Maybe I should trade in my yacht for a slightly less extravagant sailboat? Just kidding! But seriously it's important to remember that it's not always about the glitter and the glamour. Sometimes it's about helping others shine.
Power Players and Papal Prayers
Despite his focus on the less fortunate all the bigwigs showed up. We're talking President Trump President Biden President Zelenskyy and even Prince William! Talk about a star studded event! It seems like everyone wanted to pay their respects. I wonder what they all talked about? Maybe they swapped style tips? Or discussed the merits of pink versus magenta? Whatever it was it's clear that Pope Francis touched a lot of lives from the humblest to the most powerful.
A Saintly Send Off: From Vatican City to Eternal Rest
So Pope Francis is being laid to rest in St. Mary Major Basilica. It's supposed to be a super emotional procession with tons of people lining the streets to say goodbye. And get this: 40 special guests representing homeless people migrants prisoners and transgender people will be there to greet his coffin. Talk about a powerful tribute! It just goes to show that Pope Francis really cared about everyone no matter what. And that my friends is something worth celebrating even if it means shedding a few tears along the way. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to brainstorm some Dreamhouse redecorating ideas. Maybe I'll add a chapel. Or a soup kitchen. Or both! Stay fabulous everyone!

The selfie-taking at the funeral seems a bit disrespectful.

It's nice to see world leaders putting aside their differences to honor someone.
