What in Tarnation! Trump's Tariffs Are Messing With My Swamp Buddies' Planes!

Well alrighty then! It seems this fella Trump the one with the… interesting hairstyle is slapping tariffs on everything but my swamp! Apparently these new tariffs are gonna make things more expensive for Boeing Airbus and GE Aerospace. That's like saying donkey's breath is gonna be less stinky! According to some fancy pants named Dak Hardwick from the Aerospace Industries Association it's gonna be a real pain in the… well you know. Seems they're worried about some trade agreement that's been around longer than I've been ogre sized. I tell ya sometimes I feel like I'm living in a fairy tale gone wrong!

Like an Onion It Has Layers of Problems!

Trump says these tariffs are supposed to help American manufacturing keepin' things here at home. But it's like sayin' Fiona's gonna stay a princess forever! This aerospace industry is a big deal for America helping keep that ol' trade deficit from gettin' too swampy. Kelly Ortberg from Boeing even said that free trade is important for them creatin' jobs and all that hullabaloo. But now these tariffs are like a dragon breathin' down their necks!

Donkey Are We There Yet? (The Market's Plummeting)

These companies have been buyin' and sellin' planes and parts without all these extra fees for ages. But now Trump's throwin' a wrench in the works with these new 10% tariffs. And it ain't just the planes! Steel and aluminum which are important for makin' these flyin' contraptions are also gettin' hit. Some fella named Kush Desai says if you make your product in America you're safe. Easy for him to say! That's like sayin' cookies are fattening...no duhh!

Somebody Once Told Me the Prices Are Gonna Rise!

Now who's gonna pay for all this you ask? Well it could be the airplane makers their suppliers or even the folks buyin' the tickets! It's like a game of 'pin the blame on the donkey!' Some analyst Sheila Kahyaoglu says that a price jump within a year will be 'eaten' by the company but after that the buyer has to deal with it. And to top it all off Boeing GE and airline stocks are fallin' faster than Pinocchio's nose grows when he lies! Richard Aboulafia even said that fighting a trade war for this industry is like “living in a crystal palace hurling giant boulders.”

It's a Big Complicated World (Supply Chain Nightmare!)

And here's the kicker: the aerospace industry is still tryin' to recover from the whole Covid mess! They can't even keep up with the demand for planes! Even if a plane says 'Made in the USA,' it's probably got parts from all over the world. Take Boeing's Dreamliner for example. Parts from Japan to Italy! And even though Airbus has a factory in Alabama they still gotta pay tariffs on imported parts. It's like tryin' to make a perfect parfait... but you don't have all the ingredients!

So what's the moral of the story? These tariffs are gonna make things more complicated than a dragon's love life. General Electric and Safran make engines together and they're gonna be affected too! Thousands of replacement parts for engines and other aircraft parts many of which come from abroad could also become more expensive. As Aboulafia said “There’s no such thing as a national jet.” It’s a real swamp of problems I tell ya! Maybe I should just stick to my swamp and let these fancy pants figures sort it out...or maybe not!
