Well howdy folks! Shrek here reporting live from my swamp... or rather from what I've heard about that ruckus down in New York City. Seems this fella Brad Lander – some fancy pants Comptroller and mayoral hopeful – got himself in a bit of a pickle. His missus Meg Barnette tells it he was escorting someone outta immigration court when BAM! ICE agents swooped in like a dragon after a damsel in distress!

Judicial Warrant? I Think I Left it in My Other Tunic!

Now I ain't one for city folk drama but this smells fishier than Donkey after a dip in the lake. They say this Lander fella asked to see a judicial warrant. A WARRANT! You'd think law enforcement would be prepared. It's like showing up to a dragon fight without your trusty steed (or you know a talking donkey). But these ICE agents cuffed him anyway. Next thing ya know he's in custody! What in tarnation is going on over there?

Even Swamp Dwellers Got Rights Right?

His wife Meg said that Brad has a personal lawyer and counsel from the city. 'I am just very aware of how I feel right now watching Brad being taken away and that it's going to be ok and for all of those other families in there they can't say that,' she said. It's like when Fiona was locked away in that tower waiting for her true love's first kiss. Everyone deserves a fair shake even if they ain't green.

Senator Handcuffed! Are We Living in a Fairy Tale Gone Wrong?

If that weren't enough this comes right after they roughed up Senator Alex Padilla in Los Angeles. Handcuffed him for asking questions! Sounds like Lord Farquaad's reign of terror all over again. "If that is what the administration is going to do to a United States senator for having the authority to simply ask a question imagine what they will do to any American who dares to speak up," Padilla said during remarks from the Senate floor on Tuesday.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover Unless It's a Law Book!

The Attorney General Letitia James called it a 'profoundly unacceptable' event. "Arresting Comptroller Lander for the simple act of standing up for immigrants and their civil rights is a shocking abuse of power," James said in a statement. "Grotesque escalation of tensions," she added. Seems like even the bigwigs are seeing this for what it is. What they did makes our communities less safe.
