Wait What's a Tariff Again?

Okay so apparently a bunch of states are throwing some serious shade at ex President Trump over these things called tariffs. Now I'm no economics genius—I leave that to the chat (sometimes)—but from what I gather it's basically a tax on stuff coming into the country. And apparently Trump slapped a bunch of these on things from China Canada Mexico and pretty much everywhere. It's like when you accidentally buy the extra large popcorn at the movies and your wallet cries a little. Except this time it's the whole economy!

It's Illegal? Omg!

The tea is piping hot! These states led by New York are saying 'Hold up! You can't just go around taxing things on a whim!' They're waving around this thing called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) which apparently Trump used to justify the tariffs. But these states are like 'Honey no. That's not how this works.' They're saying no president ever used it like this before!

National Emergency? More Like Wallet Emergency!

According to the lawsuit Trump's basically claiming there's a national emergency to justify these tariffs. Like is buying too much bubble tea a national emergency? Because I might be guilty. But seriously they're saying this is messing with the constitutional order which sounds very serious and important. I mean I barely passed civics but even I know messing with the Constitution is a big no no.

Arizona's Attorney General Drops the Mic

Arizona's Attorney General Kris Mayes called Trump's tariff scheme "economically reckless" and illegal. She said tariffs are basically a tax that'll get passed on to consumers. Like imagine having to pay even *more* for your gaming setup. That's a big yikes from me!

So What Happens Now?

Well it looks like this is going to court. The states want a judge to declare the tariffs illegal and stop the government from enforcing them. It's like when you're arguing with your siblings about who gets the last slice of pizza but on a much bigger more complicated scale. Meanwhile CNBC's reached out to the White House for comment so stay tuned for more drama!

Will This Affect My Merch?

Okay but real talk if these tariffs stay will my merch prices go up? I mean I love my fans and I don't want you guys to have to sell your kidneys just to buy a hoodie. Hopefully this lawsuit will sort things out before we all have to start rationing our ramen noodles. Fingers crossed! Let's hope someone takes an L in court so we can get cheaper merch.
