Wait What Just Happened?
Okay fam so you know I usually stick to games and chaotic Twitch moments but this news story? It's got me doing the 'math lady' meme IRL. Apparently this dude in Colorado Mohamed Soliman allegedly went full Mad Max on some protestors with a DIY flamethrower and Molotov cocktails. Seriously what in the actual heck?! But here's where it gets even wilder: his WIFE and FIVE KIDS were suddenly scooped up by ICE. Like 'surprise you're leaving!' Talk about a plot twist!
The Tweet Heard 'Round the World
Then because 2024 is just a never ending episode of 'Black Mirror' the White House X account (you know formerly Twitter) jumps in basically saying 'they could be deported TONIGHT'. Can we say dramatic entrance? I swear reality is stranger than fiction sometimes. My brain is buffering...
Judge Judy to the Rescue?
Thankfully a federal judge stepped in and was like 'Hold up! No deportation for you!'. Judge Gordon Gallagher put a temporary stop to the deportation saying it could cause 'irreparable harm'. Like duh! Separating a family with kids some as young as four?! That’s… well you know my catchphrase: 'That's kinda cringe bro'.
But Seriously Tho...
Look I'm not a lawyer (obviously I play video games for a living) but even I know that punishing people for what their relatives *allegedly* did isn’t exactly the democratic way. The family's lawyers are calling it 'patently unlawful' and honestly I'm nodding along like a bobblehead. 'Is this real life?' keeps echoing in my head.
The Blame Game
Now DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is all like 'We're investigating to what extent his family knew about this'. Okay but last time I checked being related to someone doesn't automatically make you complicit. It's giving major 'guilty by association' vibes and I'm not here for it. Let's stick to facts and due process people!
Final Thoughts: Common Sense Please!
So here we are. A family caught in the crossfire of some serious allegations a flamethrower wielding suspect and a whole lot of legal drama. Let’s hope everyone involved gets a fair shake and maybe just maybe we can all take a deep breath and remember that common sense is still a thing... right? Someone hold my emotional support water bottle; this is too much.
