Like What Even IS a Tariff?

Okay so like I saw this article about how things are gonna get like *more* expensive because of these things called 'tariffs.' Apparently the government is putting extra taxes on stuff coming from other countries to try and bring jobs back to the US. I'm no economist but even I know that sounds like a whole lot of 'krisis' waiting to happen. As if my lip kits weren't already a splurge now my morning coffee is gonna cost more? Seriously?!

Coffee Bananas and My Beloved Vanilla?!

The article was saying that things like coffee and bananas – essentials people *essentials* – might get more expensive. And vanilla! You know I love vanilla! It’s in like half my perfumes. Apparently we can't grow enough of this stuff here so we import it. And now BOOM tariffs! This is like the opposite of 'rise and shine.' This is 'fall and whine.'

Toilet Paper Drama?!

Okay this is where I almost lost it. Toilet paper?! Like are you kidding me? Do they *want* us all to start using like leaves or something? The article says that because we import stuff to make toilet paper diapers and lotions (all my essentials) it’s all gonna cost more! This is literally 'the most offensive thing I've ever heard!'

America First… But At What Cost?!

So apparently this whole tariff thing is supposed to be about 'America First.' But like if America First means I can't afford my vanilla latte and I have to ration my toilet paper then like I’m having serious second thoughts. The Consumer Brands Association is trying to get exemptions which sounds like a good idea to me. Someone needs to tell them 'You're doing amazing sweetie!'

The McCormick Spice Meltdown (Almost)

Even McCormick the spice people are worried! They're talking about 'price adjustments' but honestly that sounds like code for 'we're gonna charge you more.' At least the stock market kinda liked the news? Like stocks in those basic brands like Coke and cleaning supplies are doing well... 'cause guess what... people still need those things even when times are tough. Is this my sign to go buy up Costco and start a savings?

So What's a Girl to Do?

Honestly I don’t know. Maybe I should start growing my own vanilla and bamboo. Or start a toilet paper company. I'm just saying there are so many more important things to focus on right now... My advice? Stay informed stay fabulous and maybe stock up on coffee and toilet paper. Just in case. You never know what’s gonna happen in 2024 am I right? And remember 'doing good' always comes back around!
