They Drew First Blood... With a Discount?
Alright listen up. Word on the street – or you know the internet – is CVS Health and Caremark are pushing Wegovy that weight loss drug like it's the last chopper outta Saigon. Seems Novo Nordisk the guys making this stuff and Caremark the money handlers cut a deal. Now Caremark's gonna make Wegovy the 'preferred' option. Preferred for who? That's what I wanna know. Seems like everyone's got a hand in the till and the little guy's still paying the price.
Caremark Chooses Wegovy: They Push We Push Back!
So Caremark's waving Wegovy at us like a shiny new weapon saying it's 'more affordable.' But hold on folks. Remember what they taught us in the jungle? Trust is a luxury we can't afford. They say they negotiated a lower price with Novo Nordisk compared to Eli Lilly's Zepbound. A war between pharmaceuticals! Maybe it's a race to the bottom but I have my doubt. These employers and unions decide how much savings if any makes it to the actual people. Sounds like a game of smoke and mirrors to me. I've seen enough double crosses to fill a body bag.
$499: A Price Tag or a Ransom Note?
Now if you ain't got insurance covering Wegovy CVS is offering it for $499 out of pocket. That's still a hefty chunk of change for the average Joe! It's like saying 'Here's a discount but you still gotta fight for it.' And don't even get me started on the original price tag around $1,000! They're bleeding people dry with these prices. It's highway robbery plain and simple. This is what I hate doing most: waiting.
NovoCare and CVS: A Match Made in… Marketing?
CVS is buddy buddy with Novo Nordisk's new online pharmacy NovoCare. They're gonna be dispensing Wegovy directly to folks with prescriptions. Sounds convenient right? Like a well oiled machine all smooth and shiny. But remember what Colonel Trautman said: 'Machines break down.' I hope this ain't just another way to squeeze more money out of people wrapped up in a fancy package and tied with a bow.
Personalized Nutrition Plans: They're Sending Me Food?
Caremark's also throwing in 'personalized nutrition plans' as part of their weight management program. Personalized huh? Sounds like they're gonna tell you to eat your veggies while they count their money. I wonder if it'll come with a survival kit and a map of the nearest jungle to forage in. Because let me tell you sometimes it feels like you're fighting for scraps out here.
Competing Drug Manufacturers and Novo Nordisk’s FDA Approved Wegovy: Do We Get a Say in Any of This?
Novo Nordisk is racing to get more patients now that those 'compounding pharmacies' can't make their cheaper versions anymore. Dave Moore some big shot over there says they're trying to make Wegovy 'convenient and affordable.' Convenient for whom? Affordable for whom? These guys talk a good game but I've seen promises broken faster than a twig under my boot. Always the cost comes down to the tax payer like they can't afford to live in this country. The cost of living is too damn high!

Will this actually help people or just line the pockets of big pharma?
