Shiny New Tariffs: What's the Deal?

Okay Powder here ready to cause some chaos! So this guy Christopher Waller – sounds like a villain from a bad cartoon right? – is yakking about how Trump's tariffs are gonna be 'transitory.' Transitory?! Did he learn NOTHING from the last time they said that? It's like saying a bomb is 'momentary.' Sure until it BLOWS UP! Anyway he's got this whole theory about how tariffs are gonna bump up prices for a 'lil bit,' and then everything will be sunshine and rainbows. I’ll believe it when pigs fly… ON FIRE!

Inflation: Is It Just Playing Games?

Waller's flapping his jaw about two scenarios. One where the tariffs are HUGE and inflation goes BOOM to like 4% or 5%. The other? Smaller tariffs and inflation's just a tiny spark at 3%. Either way he thinks the Fed will cut interest rates. It's like they're playing a game of 'How Much Can We Mess Things Up?' I'd join in but I prefer my games with bigger explosions!

Transitory? More Like TREACHEROUS!

He actually said it! 'Elevated inflation would be temporary and 'temporary' is another word for transitory.'' Is he TRYING to make everyone lose their minds? 'Transitory' is the word that haunted 2021! Remember that mess? Prices went all kablooey! He's basically saying 'Hey let's try that again but this time it'll be different!' Spoiler alert: It probably WON'T. 'Rules are made to be broken!' – especially economic ones apparently.

Football and Finance: A Match Made in… Chaos?

Okay this is where it gets REALLY weird. Waller uses a football analogy. A *football* analogy! He's talking about this 'tush push' thing the Philadelphia Eagles do. If it fails should they never try it again? He thinks not! Seriously? Comparing high stakes economics to a sportsball play? That's like comparing Fishbones to a… well another slightly smaller Fishbones. Point is it's nuts! He's basically saying 'Let's gamble with the economy!' I'm in! (As long as I get to light the fuse.)

Trump's Tariff Tango: Negotiate or Detonate?

So according to Waller Trump either wants to keep the tariffs sky high and 'remake the economy' (whatever THAT means) or he's just using them to bargain. If he keeps them high Waller sees the economy slowing to a 'crawl' and unemployment rising. Basically a BIG ol' economic OUCH! If he negotiates them down the inflation won't be so bad. Either way it's a gamble and I LOVE GAMBLES! Especially when they involve... oh you know... CHAOS!

Flexible? Or Just Plain Confused?

Waller says the Fed needs to be 'flexible' when deciding what to do next. 'Flexible' sounds like 'We have no idea what we're doing!' I mean let's be honest does ANYONE know what they're doing? Might as well toss a coin and see what happens! Or better yet let ME handle it! I’ve got plenty of ideas and they ALL involve explosions! Remember kids if you're going to do it do it with a SMILE! (and a rocket launcher.)

The only thing transitory is my patience with these so-called experts!
