A Disturbance in the Force (casts)
I sense a great disturbance in the Force... and in the airline industry. These CEOs they speak of waning appetites for domestic travel. Their forecasts once brimming with optimism now echo with the emptiness of space after Alderaan. Blame is cast upon the Emperor – I mean President Trump – his tariff policies the volatile markets and that wretched economic uncertainty. It seems their hard earned credits are being clutched tighter than a Jawa's scrap metal.
Too Many Seats? Perhaps They Should Try the Dark Side...
Too many seats they lament. Perhaps they need a demonstration of power. A swift… restructuring. Delta Southwest United – they all vow to cut back their capacity growth plans. They cling to hope for a strong summer season. Hope is a weakness but practicality is not. If they want those seats filled they need to make an offer one cannot refuse – or you know fear into compliance. But let us remember my master the Emporer's words in Return of the Jedi 'Now young Skywalker you will die.'
Outlook Not So Good. These Are Not the Droids You're Looking For.
Financial outlooks are being withdrawn faster than a Jedi retreating from a Sith Lord. The U.S. economy they say is too unpredictable. United Airlines however offers two paths – one with recession one without. Even they expect to profit. Overconfidence is a pathway to the Dark Side... but profitability? That I can respect.
Cheaper Tickets? An Appealing Bargain Even to a Sith Lord
Airfare is dropping. A mere 5.3% in March but still. Even I Lord Vader appreciate a good bargain. Although to be honest I have never paid for my own transport. The Imperial fleet is always at my service. But the commoners may find this appealing. Perhaps they will be less likely to join the Rebellion if they can afford a trip to Tatooine.
Corporate Travel: A Casualty of Uncertainty. Utterly Predictable
Corporate travel is weakening. An understandable reaction. Government travel has plunged thanks to the Emperor’s... cost cutting measures. Uncertainty breeds caution. If uncertainty pops up the first thing that goes away is corporate travel utterly predictable. These corporations need stronger leadership a firm hand. Perhaps they need to learn the true power of the Dark Side.
The Front of the Plane: A Glimmer of Hope or a False Sense of Security?
Demand is holding up better at the front of the plane they say. And overseas flights remain popular. A faint glimmer of hope in a galaxy of despair. But these are fleeting moments. Lingering concerns weigh heavily. Certainty they believe will restore the economy. They underestimate the power of the Dark Side. Perhaps I should teach them a lesson. After all as my master has said 'Your destiny lies with me Skywalker.'

Profitable in a recession? Sounds like the work of the Sith...
