By Jove They're Actually Building Planes!
Honestly you wouldn't believe the state of things in the Muggle world sometimes! I mean they're trying so hard with their 'aeroplanes,' but the regulations! Honestly it’s enough to make Professor McGonagall proud (and me slightly exasperated). Apparently Boeing – that’s one of their big plane making companies – managed to rack up 303 gross orders last month. That's the most they’ve had since December! It’s like they’ve finally discovered the Engorgement Charm for their order books. Meanwhile Airbus is still in the game the rivalry reminds me of Gryffindor vs Slytherin Quidditch matches except with fewer Bludgers (hopefully).
Deliveries: The Real Golden Snitch
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Delivering these behemoths is crucial because that’s when they actually get paid! It's a bit like brewing a complicated potion; all the ingredients and incantations are important but it’s the final draught that truly matters. Boeing handed over 45 aircraft in May which is better than last year but only on par with the month before. They've delivered 220 this year while Airbus is slightly ahead with 243. It's a close race a thrilling finish if you will. One might say 'We must try not to sink beneath our anguish but battle on.'
Order of the Phoenix (Orders That Is)
Net of cancellations Boeing has secured orders for 512 planes this year compared to Airbus's 215. That’s a pretty impressive comeback almost as impressive as Harry dodging Voldemort for the millionth time! I dare say more deals might be signed at the Paris Air Show. They're showcasing new tech and aircraft it's all a bit like the Slug Club but with fewer pretentious wizards and more… well planes.
The 737 Max: A Production Potion Gone Wrong
Ah the 737 Max! Remember when a door plug blew out? A near disaster that could have been a scene straight out of “A History of Magic’s Most Horrendous Accidents”! The FAA capped their production at 38 a month. CEO Kelly Ortberg is playing it safe planning to stabilize production before asking for permission to raise the rate. Prudence is a virtue I always say. 'Books! And cleverness! There are more important things friendship and bravery,' and of course safety!
Dreamliners and Trump: An Unlikely Alliance
Boeing logged 345 orders last month including 146 for 737 Maxes and 157 for 787 Dreamliners. And get this the Dreamliner order came from Qatar Airways during President Trump’s visit! A political alliance? A trade agreement? 'We could all have been killed or worse expelled' if trade was not agreed to! Honestly the Muggle world is full of unexpected pairings.
The Future Takes Flight (Hopefully Smoothly)
Ortberg expects to resume deliveries to Chinese airlines soon after a pause during the trade war. Including accounting adjustments Boeing has received 606 net orders this year and its backlog is 5,943. They’re building up quite the stockpile of planes! One can only hope they remember to use a Hover Charm so that they can 'Fly! Fly!'. All in all things are looking up for Boeing although I still believe in the importance of thorough research and safety checks. It’s all rather like making sure you’ve got your SPEW badges polished before a big event – attention to detail matters!
