De Minimis? More Like De Minimum Wage For My Content!
Okay stream team lemme spill the tea. So apparently Trump decided to play whack a mole with the global economy and now Meta's feeling it. Susan Li Meta's finance guru basically said some Asia based e commerce folks are tightening their purse strings on Facebook and Insta ads. Translation? Places like Temu and Shein who basically fuel my haul videos (don't judge we all love a good bargain!) are getting hit by Trump's new policies. It's like 'Oh no my cheap clothes! What will I wear for my next unboxing stream?!' This is almost as bad as when people try to tell me I'm 'mid' at Fortnite. Rude.
The Great Ad Exodus: Asia Edition
Apparently these companies are prepping for the end of some trade loophole this Friday. I don't know the full details but I'm pretty sure it means higher prices and less stuff I can impulse buy at 3 AM. Li did say some of that ad spend is going to other markets but overall it's less than before April. And let's be real that's a problem. No ads? How will people know I'm live?! (Okay maybe they'll get a notification but still!)
Temu and Shein: Meta's Unofficial Sponsors?
Analysts are saying Temu and Shein were like a *huge* chunk of Meta's China sales. Like $18.35 billion huge! That's more than my entire streaming setup budget for the next decade! No wonder Meta's sweating a little. It's like losing your biggest donor at a charity gala. Awkward!
Revenue Rollercoaster: Buckle Up!
Meta's Asia Pacific ad sales were a bit lower than expected and they're predicting their revenue for the next quarter might be… just okay. Not bad but not "OMG I just won the lottery!" either. Susan Li said it's too early to know how it'll all play out and honestly relatable. Adulting is just a constant state of 'I have no idea what I'm doing,' right?
Reality Labs: More Like Reality *Losing* Labs?
Okay this is where it gets a little dicey. Meta's Reality Labs which is supposed to be all about VR and AR lost a *ton* of money. Like $4.2 billion! I could buy a small island with that kind of cash! Maybe they should focus less on virtual reality and more on… I don't know making sure my stream doesn't lag? Just a thought.
AI to the Rescue? (Maybe?)
Meta's saying they're spending a lot more on data centers and AI stuff. Apparently they need more hardware and those suppliers are sourcing from well everywhere. So basically everything's getting more expensive. It's like trying to build a PC but every part is marked up by 300%. Maybe AI can just invent cheaper components? I'm just spitballing here guys!

I blame the algorithm.

Can we get back to gaming content please?

This is actually kinda scary for small businesses.
