Oof That's Rough Buddy
Okay okay settle down chat! I saw the news – CrowdStrike's stock took a bit of a nosedive. Apparently their revenue guidance for the current quarter isn't hitting the 'PogChamp' levels everyone expected. We're talking about a potential $1.14 to $1.15 billion which sounds like a lot of money to me but apparently it's less than the $1.16 billion analysts predicted. Did they forget to install their anti simp software or what?
Remember That Flight Outage? Still Grounded Apparently
Remember that whole flight outage fiasco last July? Yeah that's still haunting them apparently. Flights got delayed hospitals had to reschedule stuff... it was a whole mess. And they're saying it's still impacting their revenue. Honestly sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in an endless loop of Warzone deaths. Is this my villain origin story?
Incentives Gone Wild (and Then Gone)
So CrowdStrike had this incentive program called 'customer commitment packages' – sounds kinda cute right? Turns out it was costing them a cool $11 million in revenue this quarter. They canned it. Smart move? Maybe. Will it fix everything? Doubt it. But hey at least they're trying something. Maybe they should hire me as their consultant. I'm great at figuring out how to spend money.
Analyst Tears: Salty or Savory?
Evercore ISI's Peter Levine downgraded their shares saying there's 'growing investor frustration around several lingering unaddressed issues.' Ouch. Sounds like someone needs a hug... or maybe just a better cybersecurity plan. I mean if even the experts are getting frustrated you know it's serious. Time to rage quit maybe?
Not All Doom and Gloom (Just Mostly)
Okay it's not *all* bad news. They did beat earnings estimates for the first fiscal quarter. Adjusted earnings per share came in at 73 cents which is higher than the expected 65 cents. And they boosted their full year earnings outlook! So it's like they're winning... but also losing? Classic chaotic neutral energy.
$1 Billion? Can I Have Some?
And here's the kicker: they announced a $1 billion share repurchase plan. A BILLION DOLLARS! What am I doing with my life? I should have invested in cybersecurity instead of V Bucks. Seriously though that's a big flex. Maybe they're just trying to distract us from the bad news. Either way can I have like $10,000? For research purposes of course.
