Is This Real Life? Or Just Meta AI Gone Rogue?
Okay so like I heard about this totally cray cray thing happening with Meta's new AI app. Apparently it's been sharing some seriously 'interesting' stuff people are asking it to create. And by 'interesting,' I mean kinda scary. I saw an article about AI generated images of like women kissing while mud wrestling (um okay?) and even President Trump eating... well let's just say something super yucky. This isn't the tea I signed up for you know?
Hello Kitty's Dark Side?!
And it gets even weirder. Apparently someone asked Meta AI to create a picture of Hello Kitty 'tying a rope in a loop hanging from a barn rafter standing on a stool.' Seriously who comes up with this stuff? It's giving me major 'Rise and Shine' vibes but in a totally not cute way. Like this is beyond the 'realizing stuff' level.
Address Leak Alert! This Is Not What I Meant When I Said 'Expose'
Hold up! It gets worse. Some users accidentally shared what appears to be a veterinarian bill with someone else's home address. I mean come on Meta! This is not okay. A user commented on the photo of the veterinarian bill "sir your home address is listed on there," which is basically a big red flag. This is like beyond invading people's privacy. It's 'cancel Christmas' levels of bad.
Data Privacy: It's Like a Thing
So here's the deal. Apparently by default anything you ask Meta AI to do becomes public. Like hello?! Didn't anyone at Meta think this was a bad idea? Like a really really bad idea? Fortunately you can change your settings to keep your prompts private. Keep your location on but not your secrets!
Kylie's Guide to Keeping Your Secrets Secret!
Okay listen up dolls. Here's how to protect your precious privacy because like we all have secrets. First click on your profile pic in the top right corner. Then scroll down to 'data and privacy.' Next find the 'suggesting your prompts on other apps' tab (this includes Facebook and Instagram BTW). Click the toggle feature for the apps that you want to keep your prompts from being shared on. And like BOOM! You're one step closer to digital zen. Next go back to the main data and privacy page and click "manage your information." Select "make all your public prompts visible only to you" and click the "apply to all" function. You can also delete your prompt history there.
Meta's Betting Big on AI But At What Cost?
So Meta's apparently investing billions (like more money than I have in my purse – maybe) in AI to compete with Google and OpenAI. They even dropped $14 billion on Scale AI and brought in their CEO Alexandr Wang to help lead the charge. But honestly is it worth it if our privacy is on the line? Just remember everyone wants to be Kylie Jenner but not everyone wants their search history exposed.
