Gone To Ground: The Uranium Mines' Long Sleep

Back in the day like the '60s to mid '80s we were kings of the uranium hill. We mined it we owned it we didn't need nobody else. Then bam! Like a Cobra ambush it all went south. Government priorities shifted funding dried up and everyone forgot about uranium. 'They drew first blood not me,' but this time it was the politicians and bureaucrats who drew first blood on American energy independence. Now look at us beggin' for uranium from countries that probably hate our guts.

Fukushima Fallout: When Nuclear Got a Bad Name

Then there were those 'incidents,' like that mess in Fukushima. Suddenly everyone was scared of nuclear energy like it was a booby trapped jungle. Uranium prices crashed harder than a Huey in a rice paddy. Mines shut down jobs disappeared and America became dependent on foreign uranium. 'Nothing is over!' Except maybe our common sense when it comes to energy independence.

95%?! That's One Big Load Of Bull!

The numbers don't lie but they sure sting. We're the world's biggest nuclear power user but we import over 95% of the uranium needed to fuel those reactors. 95%!! It's like building a tank and then having to import the bullets from your enemy. Makes you wonder who's really in charge doesn't it? 'To survive a war you gotta become war.' To survive an energy crisis you gotta become energy independent. That's what my daddy told me at least.

AI and the Coming Energy Storm

Now suddenly everyone's scrambling for uranium again. Why? Because of those power hungry AI models developed by the tech giants and the green energy push. These things are energy vampires. And they are making Uncle Sam remember that he needs uranium. It's a start I guess but the problem is that we don't have enough uranium to keep up with demand. And 'when you're pushed killing's as easy as breathing'.

Bipartisan BS and Empty Promises

Suddenly everyone's all about uranium. Biden bans Russian imports Trump wants to quadruple nuclear capacity. They're throwing money around like it grows on trees. But let's get real. Even if every uranium project in America was firing on all cylinders it still wouldn't be enough. We're still gonna be dependent on foreign uranium. 'They're closing us down one by one,' and this time 'they' are global energy dependencies.

The Long Haul: Digging Ourselves Out

So what's the answer? According to those CNBC folks we gotta restart and ramp up domestic production. Easier said than done. We got less than 1% of the world's reserves. It's gonna take years to close the gap between supply and demand. 'Live for nothing or die for something.' It is time for America to decide if we're gonna die dependent on foreign energy or live free and independent.
