From 'Accio Shares!' to 'Expelliarmus Profits?'
Right so you won't believe what's been happening in the Muggle world of… finance? Apparently a company called AeroVironment – sounds like something out of a 'Fantastic Beasts' textbook doesn't it? – well their shares decided to do a bit of a nosedive. Down 7% can you imagine? After soaring like a Firebolt all year too! Seems they're planning to offer a load of new shares and some fancy 'convertible senior notes.' Honestly it sounds like something Gringotts would cook up!
The 'Next Palantir'… of Hardware? Seriously?
Apparently some Muggle financial guru – a chap named Jim Cramer – called them the 'next Palantir of hardware.' A Palantir! You know those seeing stone things? I suppose if you're looking at drones it's… vaguely similar? Still the pressure must be immense! Talk about having a Voldemort sized expectation hanging over your head. 'He Who Must Not Fail,' and all that.
Acquisitions and Executive Orders: More Potions Than Charms
They also just swallowed up some space related defense tech company called Blue Halo for a staggering $4.1 billion! That's enough Galleons to make even Malfoy jealous. And apparently this President Trump – sounds like a particularly stubborn gnome if you ask me – signed some order to boost drone production. So on the one hand they’re expanding. On the other the shares are acting like a deflated Quaffle. What gives?
Short Squeeze? Sounds Like a Rather Unpleasant Curse
Then there's the rather complicated 'short interest level' thing. Apparently some people were betting the stock would go down but it went up instead forcing them to buy shares to cover their losses. It's called a 'short squeeze.' Sounds like something Madam Pomfrey would be dealing with after a particularly rough Quidditch match doesn't it? All those bones being snapped back into place…
AeroVironment CEO Speaks! (I Hope He Knows 'Reparo')
There's a video of the AeroVironment CEO talking about European defense spending and Trump! Hopefully he has a plan to fix their shares. Maybe if he used the 'Reparo' charm to fix their stock price. It seems to me the situation is really screwed.
So What Now? A Bit of Felix Felicis Perhaps?
Honestly trying to understand the Muggle world sometimes makes my head spin more than a Bludger. All this stock market talk... it's enough to make you want to stick to good old fashioned Galleons Sickles and Knuts. Perhaps a bit of Felix Felicis (liquid luck) is in order for AeroVironment. They're going to need it if they want to keep flying high!
