The Ministry of... Small Business?
Blimey you won't believe what's been going on! While the bigwigs those chaps who seem to think galleons grow on trees are ditching Diversity Equity and Inclusion quicker than you can say 'Quidditch Through the Ages' small businesses are charging full steam ahead. Apparently even with You Know Who's policies casting a bit of a shadow (though thankfully not quite as dark as the Dark Lord's) these little guys are seeing some serious magic in DEI.
Even Muggle Politics Are Involved!
According to some survey by CNBC and SurveyMonkey – sounds like a spell gone wrong doesn't it? – over half of these small business owners are actually doing something about DEI. We're talking about inclusive policies fair hiring and even getting involved in their local communities. You know the kind of stuff Dumbledore would be proud of! Of course politics plays a role naturally. Seems the Democratic small business owners are all for it while only a portion of Republican small business owners are for it. Honestly sometimes I think Muggles are more divided than Gryffindor and Slytherin during a particularly heated House Cup match.
Is It Worth More Than A Galleon?
Now here's where it gets interesting. Apparently this whole DEI thing isn't just some feel good exercise. These small business owners the ones who've actually embraced it say it's actually helping their businesses! Can you believe it? A whopping 65% say it's having a positive impact. That's more effective than Felix Felicis on a job interview I tell you what!
Culture is key and you can't Wingardium Leviosa your way out of it
So what are the perks you ask? Well according to these business owners they're seeing a better workplace culture (which is vital right?) they can recruit top talent (because who wants to work in a place where everyone's miserable?) and their employees are happier than house elves who've just been given socks! These advantages are particularly critical for small businesses which often face greater challenges in attracting and retaining talent compared to larger corporations. In a competitive labor market fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment can be a differentiator that helps businesses build stronger more committed teams giving these small businesses a much needed competitive edge.
The Next Generation Is Involved?
Turns out that youngins are up to no good (or good depending on how you look at it). Business owners aged 18 34 have reported higher levels of success in terms of DEI efforts! Honestly good for them they are making the world a better place than how the older generations did it. It's almost like a new dawn has come.
The Real Magic: Bottom Lines!
So while the politicians in Washington and those Wall Street types are having a bit of a squabble over DEI it seems the small business owners on Main Street are more interested in what actually works. Which let's face it is a lesson we could all learn from. Perhaps they've discovered a new spell – 'Inclusio Maxima' – that's far more powerful than we thought. Now if only I could get Ron to understand the importance of being inclusive during our next chess match…

Perhaps a bit of fairness in the workplace is stronger than any potion!
