Like Seriously? Poopy Diapers?
Okay you guys so I was reading this article – yes *me* reading! – and I literally choked on my green juice. Apparently Amazon returns are a total disaster for small businesses. I mean free and easy returns sound amazing right? But it turns out people are sending back *used* stuff and sometimes it's like super gross. We're talking soiled baby products people! Like 'Rise and Shine' but make it… 'Rancid and Re Returned'? Not cute. Not cute *at all*.
Is This My Fault?
I feel like as a public figure I should address this. Are my fans doing this? Are you guys like ordering stuff and then returning it covered in… questionable substances? Because if so STOP IT. Remember 'It's the year of realizing stuff!' and we should realize returning poopy diapers isn't okay. It's messing with people's livelihoods. And who wants to be known for that? Not a boss babe that's for sure.
Fraud Is So Not Fetch
So apparently return fraud is skyrocketing. Like almost 14% of returns are fraudulent now. That's insane! And it's costing retailers almost a trillion dollars. Like I could buy so many handbags with that money! Okay but seriously this is hurting real people. Small businesses are raising prices and some are even thinking about leaving Amazon altogether. I mean imagine life without Prime delivery! It's a nightmare scenario.
Amazon's New Fee: Making Me Poor or Something?
Amazon started charging sellers for high return rates. Which like I guess makes sense? But it's also making things more expensive. Apparently 65% of sellers raised their prices because of these fees. Are we heading into a recession or what? I need to keep up with my lifestyle and that includes luxury goods that I purchase from small businesses like those that sell Amazon. Ugh choices!
Accountability Is Everything Dolls!
One seller was saying that their profit margins are like *1%* because of fraud and return abuse. That’s crazy talk. I mean I make more than that when I blink. But still it is really a shame that return abuse has hurt their business so bad. The seller also said Amazon needs to hold people accountable. Honestly preach! Like if I catch someone stealing my lip kits you know I'm coming for them. (Just kidding... mostly.)
Let's Make a Difference (and Look Good Doing It)
Okay so here's what I think we should do. Let's be conscious consumers. Let's make sure we're only returning things for legitimate reasons. And if you accidentally receive a used diaper *don't* re send it to someone else. Just... throw it away. I'm gonna try to do my part too. I'll start by like only buying things I *really* need. (Okay maybe not. But the thought counts right?) We can all make a difference one perfectly filtered post at a time. And remember 'doing good is good business!' ... or something like that. I should trademark that!
