Wingardium Leviosa for Amazon Stock!
Honestly you'd think Professor Flitwick was teaching Amazon stock how to fly with Wingardium Leviosa. For the past five days Amazon's shares have been soaring higher than Harry on his Firebolt leaving its Big Tech competitors eating its dust. Up a whopping 12%! That's more impressive than Ron devouring a cauldron cake. Even though it's still not quite at its peak there's a lot to be excited about. As I always say "Books! And cleverness! There are more important things – friendship and bravery"... and apparently a well performing stock portfolio.
The Sino American Detente: A Peace Treaty for Products!
Remember the Triwizard Tournament? All that international cooperation? Well the US and China have decided to play nice (for now) suspending most tariffs on each other's goods for 90 days. Apparently grown up wizards (or muggles rather) can sometimes put aside their differences. According to Jeff Marks this tariff truce is helping Amazon. It's about time someone realized books aren't the only important trade! It's all rather like when Dumbledore brokered peace between the giants… except with fewer giants and more spreadsheets.
Deliverance from Delivery Woes!
In other exciting news Amazon has teamed up with FedEx to deliver large packages. It’s a clever move really. Sort of like Harry Ron and I figuring out how to brew Polyjuice Potion in our second year; a strategic alliance to solve a problem. UPS bless their cotton socks is focusing on profitability. Good for them but Amazon's thinking ahead. This partnership should help them manage costs and as they always say "always the long game"
AWS Goes Arabian: A Magical Investment!
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is betting big on AI investing a colossal $5 billion in Saudi Arabia. I must say even I a staunch advocate for traditional magic can see the potential in artificial intelligence (though I still think a well placed charm is more effective). CEO Andy Jassy is in Riyadh discussing the AI boom. Let's just hope no one uses this technology for nefarious purposes. It's all well and good until someone starts creating self aware Sorting Hats!
Prime Video's Advertising Spell: More Users Than a Quidditch Crowd!
Amazon Prime Video's ad supported tier has exploded reaching over 130 million active users in the U.S. That's more people than you'd find at a Quidditch World Cup! And while I personally prefer a good book to streaming video I must admit the numbers are impressive. Perhaps they should consider adapting 'Hogwarts A History' for the screen? I'd consult of course.
Don't Get Cocky!: A Word of Caution From Yours Truly
Now while all this is good news let's not get ahead of ourselves. As Dumbledore wisely said "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." Multi day winning streaks can be misleading. However with our shares bought on April 15 at roughly $180 recognizing that the stock being down 25% from its Feb. 4 high of $242 was an opportunity we are looking forward to our target price of $240. But remember investing is a marathon not a sprint. As I've always said "Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself." So let's keep a level head and a well stocked library of financial information.
