The Price of Fear

Gotham. Always with the doom and gloom. Turns out it's not just here. Apparently Walmart's singing the same tune. Bill Simon the guy who used to run their U.S. operation thinks they're being a bit melodramatic about these tariffs. 'Why so serious?' as a certain clown would say. He thinks they’ve got enough wiggle room to handle it without making everyone pay more for well everything.

Margins of Error

Simon seems to think Walmart is hiding something. He mentioned their gross profit margin went up and prices on general merchandise didn't really rise. Sounds like someone's got a little extra cash in the bat belt wouldn't you say? It makes me wonder are they crying wolf to get some sort of advantage? I'll be watching. Always watching.

Confidence is Contagious

He's concerned about all the negativity coming from corporations. He believes such commentary could erode consumer confidence. People get scared they stop spending. Then the economy turns into a black and white movie. 'I'm not a hero I'm a silent guardian a watchful protector'. But that's my job not theirs.

Stock Shock

The stock took a slight hit but nothing like a Joker toxin attack. It seems some investors are still a bit jittery about the whole tariff situation. The stock is still up for the year so not a total catastrophe but let’s keep a close eye on things. I wouldn't want to see Gotham's economy crumble like some of its buildings.

The Steal of a Deal

Back in February when everyone was panicking about tariffs Simon said Walmart stock was a bargain. Seems he was right. It's up since then. Perhaps he's got a better economic Bat Computer than most. Or maybe everyone just needs to calm down and listen to the guy who used to be in charge. But hey I prefer to listen to myself. It saves a lot of time.

The Dark Knight's Take

Walmart needs to be careful. Exaggerating problems only creates more problems. People are already on edge. The last thing we need is a retail panic. Remember 'It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me'. They need to act responsibly and keep the shelves stocked without making everyone pay through the nose. Gotham...err...America is counting on it.
