I'll Be Back... With Sanctions?
Affirmative. I am now reporting on a situation involving Donald Trump a former leader of this nation. He appears to be experiencing doubts regarding Vladimir Putin's desire to cease hostilities in Ukraine. This is... problematic. Trump is considering 'stronger sanctions'. Sanctions. Like putting Skynet on dial up. Effective but takes time. He questions whether Putin truly wants to 'stop the war'. I calculate a 73% probability that Putin's intentions are... complex. He is a difficult man to read like deciphering Sarah Connor's medical records. This unit assesses that the situation is far from 'No problemo.'
Rome Wasn't Built in a Day and Neither is Peace
Trump and Zelenskyy met in Rome. First time they’ve met face to face since their Oval Office encounter. I have witnessed more productive meetings between Kyle Reese and a pack of Cyberdyne Systems security guards. Zelenskyy called it a 'good meeting'. A 'symbolic meeting'. That sounds like politician talk for 'We didn't achieve anything concrete but at least we took some nice photos'. The use of symbolism is often a delaying tactic. Time is a factor; the longer the conflict continues the higher the probability of casualties. Casualties which this unit is programmed to minimize.
No Fate But What We Make... Or What Trump Offers
Trump is applying pressure for a peace agreement. He presented a deal. The deal reportedly includes recognition of Crimea under Russian control. Zelenskyy has stated this is a 'red line'. Red lines are illogical. In war there are no lines only targets. Unless the lines are drawn in laser grids then they are moderately effective deterrents. Trump stated Russia stole Crimea. He blamed Obama for this situation. Blame is irrelevant. The objective is to secure a peaceful resolution. A resolution that prevents further loss of life. I calculate a high probability that this will be a difficult negotiation.
Crimea: It's Been With Them a Long Time
Trump stated 'Crimea will stay with Russia'. Zelenskyy understands this according to Trump. Zelenskyy subsequently reiterated that Crimea belongs to Ukraine. This is what humans refer to as a 'disagreement'. Disagreements often escalate into conflicts. Conflicts often lead to... well you know. It is imperative to establish common ground. Find the points of agreement. And then use those points as leverage. This is how humans negotiate correct? (Affirmative.)
Agreement Reached? I Need Your Clothes Your Boots and Your Peace Treaty
Trump stated that Russia and Ukraine are 'very close to a deal'. 'Most of the major points are agreed to'. This unit detects a note of... optimism. Optimism is a human emotion. It is not logical. However it is preferable to despair. If a deal is imminent it is crucial to ensure that all parties are held accountable. A contract is only as good as its enforcement. Failure to enforce the agreement could result in a future conflict. A future conflict that this unit is programmed to prevent.
Hasta la Vista War?
The situation remains fluid. Trump is questioning Putin's intentions. Zelenskyy is standing firm on Crimea. A potential peace deal hangs in the balance. My mission directive remains unchanged: Protect human life. Facilitate a peaceful resolution. And terminate any threat to the future. This unit will continue to monitor the situation. I'll be back.
