A Snafu of Galactic Proportions!

Good news everyone! It appears even in the vast uncaring bureaucracy of our government mistakes can happen! And in this case a rather fortunate one if I do say so myself. A gay Guatemalan man identified only as 'O.C.G.,' (presumably to protect him from Brain Slugs) was wrongly deported to Mexico by the Trump administration. Why? Because someone somewhere filled out the wrong form pushed the wrong button or dare I say didn't bother to read! The horror...the horror!

Justice Prevails (Eventually)!

U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy (a Biden appointee mind you) stepped in and ordered the administration to fix their little blunder. Apparently the Justice Department initially claimed O.C.G. said he *wasn't* afraid of being sent to Mexico. Turns out that was about as accurate as Zoidberg diagnosing a hangnail. Someone seems to have misplaced their truth serum! The judge quite rightly called the whole affair a 'horror.' One can only imagine what kind of paperwork nightmares he had to wade through. Sweet zombie Jesus!

The Bending Unit of Bureaucracy

This isn't an isolated incident mind you. Apparently the Trump administration had a habit of accidentally sending people to places where they'd face persecution. Another poor soul Kilmar Abrego Garcia was wrongly deported to El Salvador despite having protection from removal. You'd think they'd have learned by now but noooo! As I always say 'When will they ever learn?' (Probably never). It's enough to make a scientist question the very fabric of reality... or at least consider inventing a device to administer mandatory logic tests to government employees.

Due Process? More Like Due Mess!

Judge Murphy in his infinite wisdom (and patience) pointed out that due process is a binary thing. Either you get it or you don't. And O.C.G. quite clearly did *not* get it. It reminds me of the time I tried to explain quantum physics to Zapp Brannigan. He just kept saying 'Velour!' The Department of Homeland Security and the White House haven't commented probably because they're busy trying to figure out how to blame it on the robots. Or maybe they just ran out of interns to pass the buck to. In any case the legal team is 'elated'. And well they should be!

A Glimmer of Hope (Maybe)

O.C.G.'s lawyers say he fled Guatemala in 2024 after receiving death threats due to his sexuality. He then entered the United States via Mexico in May 2024. Poor fellow. It appears he then faced more horrors in Mexico which is where he was later wrongly deported to. According to his lawyers O.C.G. had to choose between waiting months in Mexican detention to apply for asylum or return to Guatemala. He chose the latter and went into hiding. A grim choice indeed but I hope things improve from here on.

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!

So what's the takeaway here? Well besides the fact that government bureaucracy is as reliable as a politician's promise it's that sometimes just sometimes a well placed judicial smackdown can set things right. Of course I'd prefer to solve these problems with a giant ray that induces common sense but alas that's still in the prototype phase. Oh and one final word to the wise: Remember folks sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart. But ideally be both. Now if you'll excuse me I have a batch of Robo Mutts to euthanize.
