Dark Times Indeed: More Than Just a Nargle Infestation
Honestly I'm writing this with a knot in my stomach usually reserved for Potions class. A former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark are dead. Murdered. And Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot multiple times. I mean really? As if the world needed more darkness. Apparently officials are calling it a 'politically motivated assassination'. Honestly some people make Voldemort look like a misunderstood house elf. A house elf with a political view that no one likes. A very strong political view that is acted out and does not stay inside. It is absolutely dreadful that this has happened in this muggle community and the wizarding world should take caution for those who are squibs and live amongst muggles. I hope no one does anything stupid because everyone knows that the ministry of magic is watching all of us. No need for dementors to scare us more. I'm reminded of Dumbledore's words: 'Dark and difficult times lie ahead'. He was right wasn't he? Always. This news is proof of that and just shows the wizarding world and the muggle world are both at risk and not doing well.
Vance Boelter: Not Quite 'He Who Must Not Be Named' But Close Enough
The suspect's name is Vance Boelter. He sounds like a character straight out of a bad thriller novel. Turns out he's the director of security patrols at some security firm. Irony much? Authorities say he impersonated a police officer which just adds another layer of utter ghastliness to the whole thing. Honestly you'd think after all these years people would realize impersonating someone is never a good idea. Remember Gilderoy Lockhart? Oh how that backfired! It seems as though this Boelter character might have been as bad as Lockhart and may have brain washed a few muggles as well. I would be scared to even read his writings honestly I would just burn them. It is better to keep to yourself and to think yourself before you do anything because once you cross the line you can never go back. I am not sure what goes on in people's heads to do something as drastic as this but it is absolutely frightening. I do know one thing that is similar is that we all have to be very careful who we trust.
A Manifesto? Sounds Like a Particularly Dull Textbook
Apparently they found a 'manifesto' in Boelter's car naming other lawmakers and officials. A manifesto? Honestly couldn't he have just written a strongly worded letter? Or maybe taken up knitting? You know something therapeutic that doesn't involve you know *murder*. Writing a manifesto means you are serious and that is never a good sign. It is not just something you write for fun it is something you act upon. This person is absolutely bonkers I cannot imagine someone impersonating a police officer killing two innocent people and almost killing another couple. This is all so dreadful.
The Ministry of Magic (er I Mean the Government) Weighs In
Even President Trump has been 'briefed' and says anyone involved will be prosecuted 'to the fullest extent of the law'. Well duh! What else is he going to say? 'Oh well boys will be boys'? Honestly sometimes I think the Muggle world is run by a bunch of Cornelius Fudge types. They are all the same they all say the same thing and no one takes accountability. Accountability is key I believe the ministry of magic is a great example. But that is a different story. Pam Bondi is also 'closely monitoring developments'. Because that’s *so* helpful. It sounds like something Umbridge would say. She is just as bad as Dolores Umbridge saying something like that is a waste of time. Do something about it! Instead of just stating the obvious.
Political Rallies: Suddenly Less Appealing Than Snape's Dungeon
And now the Minnesota State Patrol is warning people not to attend political rallies. Wonderful. So now we have to worry about getting shot for expressing our opinions? It's all a bit 'He Who Must Not Be Named' on the rise again isn't it? Just all around a dreadful experience and it is terrible.
Lawmakers Respond: A Chorus of 'We're Shocked!'
Statements condemning the violence are pouring in from all over. Everyone's 'heartbroken'. Everyone's saying 'this senseless violence must end'. Well no one's going to say they *approve* of the murders are they? Honestly it's all so predictable. It's like watching a particularly tedious Quidditch match – lots of noise but ultimately nothing changes. However this is an absolute different case because it is people's lives on the line and being taken. Hopefully one day people will learn to not act upon their own agenda and learn to compromise.
