Wake Me When You Need Me...To Understand the Economy
Alright folks Master Chief here. I usually deal with Covenant plasma rifles and Flood infestations not interest rates and the Federal Reserve. But apparently even I can't escape the drama of… *checks notes* …economics. So Trump wants to kick out the current Fed chair Jerome Powell? Sounds like someone's got a serious case of 'I need a weapon!' against fiscal policy.
Firing the Fed Chair? That's a Bold Strategy Cotton...
The report says Trump's been chatting with some guy named Kevin Warsh who apparently advised against firing Powell. Even Warsh who I imagine is a pretty serious dude in a suit thinks this is a bad idea. Makes you wonder what's the endgame here? Is Trump planning to replace Powell with a Grunt who'll just print money until the entire economy explodes? Because that sounds about right.
Truth Social? More Like Truth…Unsocial
Trump took to Truth Social – which let's be honest sounds like something the Covenant would use to spread propaganda – to whine about Powell. 'Termination can't come fast enough!' he apparently said. The guy's got a point but it has a bit of a edge to it if you ask me. I’ve dealt with angry aliens with plasma rifles; this feels… similar. Except instead of plasma it's tweets. Equally deadly I suppose but far less fun to deflect with my energy shield.
I Need a Weapon...Grade Economist
Even Senator Elizabeth Warren who is clearly on the opposite side of the political spectrum from Trump is worried about this. She's saying that destroying the Fed's independence could spell 'catastrophe' for U.S. markets. Now I don't know much about markets but 'catastrophe' is a word that usually gets my attention. It's right up there with 'Flood outbreak' and 'Cortana's gone rampant.' This is getting serious.
Negative I Don't Like It
Powell claims the President doesn't have the power to fire him. It's like trying to remove my helmet. Good luck with that! But seriously this whole situation feels like a power struggle and when powerful people start arguing over money things tend to go south faster than a Banshee with a broken engine. Someone needs to get this under control. Preferably before the economy becomes a Halo ring about to explode.
This is the Way the World Ends: Not with a Bang But with a Bad Fed Policy
Look I'm just a soldier. I shoot bad guys and save the galaxy. But even I can see that messing with the Federal Reserve without a *really* good reason is a bad idea. So let's hope someone smart figures this out before we all end up living in a post economic apocalypse wasteland scavenging for bottle caps and fighting over the last working Xbox. Believe me nobody wants that not even the Grunts.
