Wake Me When You Need Me... To Understand These Tariffs

Alright Spartans listen up. I've faced down the Covenant the Flood and now... tariffs? Apparently President Trump's Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick dropped a bombshell faster than a plasma grenade. These exemptions on electronics? 'Coming soon' apparently they’ll be part of the semiconductor tariffs. Translation: This isn't a permanent reprieve. Almost makes me miss fighting the Gravemind. At least that was straightforward: destroy the Flood save the galaxy. This? I need Cortana just to understand the basics.

National Security? More Like National Confusion!

Lutnick's throwing around the 'national security' card. Says these products 'need to be made in America'. I get it. You don't want the Covenant building our Mjolnir armor. But smartphones and TVs? Last I checked those weren't on the list of essential equipment for fighting alien hordes. Though I will admit a heads up display on a new plasma screen would be pretty sweet in the middle of battle. Maybe that's what he's talking about?

Reciprocal What Now?!

So these reciprocal tariffs were supposed to be a good thing right? Exemptions for tech like computers phones and TVs. A brief moment of respite before the next wave of Banshees hit. But no. Lutnick is essentially saying 'Ha! Just kidding!' It's like Cortana promising a quick mission and then you end up fighting for your life for 12 hours straight. It’s not a surprise. I have been through worse.

Chaos Theory: Trump's Tariff Edition

The Democrats are calling it 'chaos' and a 'crisis of credibility'. Senator Warren thinks investors will run screaming. Frankly it sounds like a typical Tuesday fighting the Covenant. One minute you're pushing forward the next you're ambushed by Grunts and Jackals with no cover. If you don't adapt you die. So that is what Trump's administration is doing adapting.

The Exception to the... Exception?

Then we have U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer trying to spin this like a plasma pistol on overload. He’s saying the exemptions are 'not really an exception'. What in the name of the Forerunners is that supposed to mean? It’s like saying the Halo array isn't really a weapon just a 'galactic stress reliever'. I may be a Spartan but even I'm having trouble parsing this logic.

Apple Bites Back... Maybe?

Apple who makes most of their stuff in China probably breathed a sigh of relief for about five minutes. But Senator Booker's right. This flip flopping is bad news. People don't know if they can trust Trump on trade. Makes you wonder if he’s been spending too much time with the Gravemind – all that confusing contradictory information. Time to get back to fighting aliens I guess at least that's straight forward.
