A Shadow of a Doubt

Hmph! News from across the sea reaches even my ears though I’d rather be smoking my pipe in the Shire. It seems one Donald Trump a leader of men in a land far far away has taken umbrage at the words of Dmitry Medvedev once a leader in the land of Russia. Medvedev it appears suggested that some nations might be quite willing to hand over the 'N word' – and by that I presume he means *Nuclear* – to Iran. 'Did he really say that?' Trump cries as if questioning the very fabric of reality! One might think the Balrog had returned judging by the urgency.

Nuclear Saber Rattling: Not Just for Orcs Anymore

Trump never one to shy away from a bit of boasting (a trait I find rather unbecoming even in dwarves) then began puffing out his chest about the 'hardware' of his nation. Apparently their Nuclear Submarines are the 'most powerful and lethal weapons ever built.' Oh the hubris! Reminds me of Denethor always gazing into his palantír convinced of his own brilliance. He then proclaims Putin 'THE BOSS.' Hmmm. Seems a bit too cozy for my liking. Perhaps he thinks this Putin could lead him to the ring? It would be dangerous even for him.

Did Someone Say 'Obliterated'?

The news reports that Trump and one Hegseth (a name that sounds suspiciously like a troll’s sneeze) claim to have 'obliterated' Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Obliterated you say? A bold claim! The International Atomic Energy Agency however reports 'no increase in off site radiation levels.' One must wonder then what exactly was 'obliterated'? Perhaps only some unfortunate shrubbery. Politicians I tell you always exaggerating. Much like hobbits trying to describe a particularly large turnip.

Vance's Vague Veracity

Even one Vance a Vice Leader seems uncertain of the true extent of the damage. He believes the program was 'pushed back a very long time'. Which sounds like someone trying to convince everyone but mostly themselves that they did a good job. Medvedev meanwhile mocks Trump for dragging his land into 'another war'. It seems even the most distant realms are not immune to the folly of men. 'Fool of a Took!' as I often say when someone acts rashly.

No Nobel? A Tragedy!

Medvedev also snidely remarks that Trump can 'forget about the Nobel Peace Prize'. Oh the sting! As if a shiny trinket could ever measure the true worth of a leader. Still one imagines Trump fancies himself a peacemaker much like Saruman fancied himself a wise and benevolent guide. How wrong they both were. Putin has condemned the attacks as “absolutely unprovoked aggression”. That’s rich coming from him.

Denials and Delusions: A Wizard's Work is Never Done

Medvedev in a final twist denies that Russia will be supplying Iran with nuclear weapons but ominously adds that 'other countries might.' So the game continues the embers still glowing promising to burst into flames. Such political maneuvering is enough to make even a wizard weary. I believe I shall retire to my study with a good book a pipe and perhaps a stiff drink. There are more important things to worry about like the price of pipe weed and the consistency of Bilbo’s seed cakes.
