The Emperor's New FAA Chief?

The Senate Commerce Committee has become a wretched hive of scum and villainy... I mean a place of spirited debate. They've just voted on the nomination of Republic Airways CEO Bryan Bedford to lead the Federal Aviation Administration. A vote of 15 to 13. All Republicans aligned all Democrats aligned. It's as if they're puppets dancing to the tune of some unseen Sith Lord... or perhaps just their party leaders. Bedford it seems has caused quite the disturbance in the Force particularly with his stance on pilot training. This '1,500 hour rule' business has them squabbling like Jawas over spare parts.

Boeing Under My Thumb… I Mean Scrutiny

Bedford has pledged to maintain tough oversight of Boeing. Good. The Force is strong with that company but their recent blunders with the 737 MAX 9—missing bolts mid air emergencies—are most disturbing. The National Transportation Safety Board seems to be giving them a lesson in the Dark Side of engineering... I mean rigorous safety standards. Perhaps a visit from yours truly would instill some…discipline.

Billions of Credits… Er Dollars… Lost in Hyperspace!

Senator Ted Cruz initially proposed a meager $12.5 billion for air traffic control. Insufficient! Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sensing a weakness in the Force countered with a demand for at least $20 billion. Even that's hardly enough to keep the skies safe from asteroid fields… or you know aging radar systems. The Trump administration wants a complete overhaul after that disastrous mid air collision near Washington Reagan National Airport. A tragedy indeed. All 67 souls lost. A clear sign that something is terribly wrong. This is not the infrastructure you are looking for!

The Dark Side of Infrastructure

Duffy wants a king's ransom to buy new radios network connections and replace antiquated radar systems. He also wants anti collision technology at airports. Six new air traffic control centers! The man's ambition is… impressive. He also wants incentives to boost air traffic controller hiring and retention. Excellent. The Empire needs skilled pilots and engineers. He really has a strong vision which is something that is rare nowadays but it might be too little too late these are all short term plans.

The Rebel Alliance… I Mean Aerospace Companies… Speak Out!

Major aerospace companies and airlines are demanding at least $31 billion to fix the FAA's crumbling infrastructure. They say the radar systems are a joke the towers are falling apart and runway safety is laughable. I sense much fear in them. Fear leads to anger anger leads to hate hate leads to… well you get the idea. They must be strong if they want these infrastructures to succeed.

A Catastrophic Disturbance: The Force Awakens… Publicly

The FAA's woes have been brewing for years like a forgotten pot of blue milk. But a recent surge of mishaps near misses and that horrific crash in January has finally stirred the public from its slumber. They cry out for action! The Force is with them… or at least their anxiety is palpable. Perhaps it is time to use my force to bring the FAA to it's best days but that would be an impossible goal for sure I am sure. The end is near either way. We will see.
