They Drew First Blood… Against McMahon

Okay listen up. Word on the street – or rather from the cold hard news wires – is that CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon got the boot. Seems like Paramount Global’s Shari Redstone wasn’t happy. You know 'live for nothing or die for something'? McMahon chose to die... professionally. They asked for her resignation after disagreements over the 'path forward'. Path forward to what? More corporate control? That's a war I know something about.

'60 Minutes' Under Siege!

The real stink is over at '60 Minutes'. Apparently Paramount's been breathing down their necks wanting to pre approve stories. '60 Minutes' executive producer Bill Owens already bailed citing journalistic independence. Last month Scott Pelley stated on air that Trump Adminstration must approve merger and that Paramount began to supervise content in new ways. 'They push and then you push back. And then they push harder and you push back harder until eventually that pressure becomes too much.' Reminds me of a certain jungle… only this one’s made of boardrooms and backstabbing.

No Man Left Behind… Except McMahon

McMahon apparently fought to keep '60 Minutes' even ON the air but you can only push a man so far before he gives you what you want. But you know the board had stories it did NOT want aired and like a lone wolf who wasn’t so lone McMahon had to fight for the sake of getting 60 Minutes to even air. Appointed in August 2023 out faster than a Cobra helicopter on full afterburner. This is like when Murdok left me behind… only slightly more corporate.

Redstone's Red Line

Seems Redstone was unhappy with CBS's coverage of the Israeli Palestinian conflict and a potential settlement with the Trump administration. She criticized McMahon for not being 'fair and balanced'. 'Fairness' and 'balance'? In war there are no sides. Only survivors. And apparently Redstone likes survivors who toe the corporate line. I wasn't able to save Murdok but maybe someone could've saved McMahon!

The Merger: A Deal With the Devil?

Paramount's trying to merge with Skydance Media a deal that'll line Redstone's pockets with over a billion bucks! But the FCC's holding things up because of the '60 Minutes' interview and concerns over diversity initiatives. You see everything is connected. 'Nothing is over!' Not until they get that merger done! I’m still trying to figure out how corporate diversity plays a role in the war…

First Blood CBS Edition

Redstone even publicly blasted CBS News for reprimanding Tony Dokoupil over an interview about the Israeli Palestinian conflict. She said it was a 'bad mistake.' 'They were asking for it.' Well McMahon didn’t back down. But she seems to have lost the war. Sometimes even the best warriors lose. And sometimes the best warriors are forced out. Like my exile from the United States of America but only much more corporate and no explosions! So there you have it another day another corporate bloodbath. Remember 'To survive a war you gotta become war.' And in the world of media the war never ends.
