I'll Be Back... After My Hip Replacement
As Assistant Regional Manager (in charge of sales) and volunteer Sheriff's Deputy I Dwight K. Schrute take matters of health and well being VERY seriously. I mean have you SEEN my beet farm? Strong bones strong body strong business. And speaking of strong even Arnold Schwarzenegger himself—yes the Terminator the Governator—understands the importance of movement. He’s not just crushing skulls on screen; he's battling joint pain like the rest of us mere mortals. 'Do something,' he says. Well I say do SOMETHING that matters! Like learning to properly wield a katana or identifying edible mushrooms. But I digress. Schwarzenegger’s point is valid: those 50s 60s and beyond aren’t a death sentence for physical activity. Unless of course you're being pursued by a Scranton Strangler. Then running IS a death sentence. But I am not the Scranton Strangler. That is a common misconception.
Fear? False. Move! True.
According to the article a staggering number of people suffer from arthritic conditions. Arthritic conditions are a form of suffering. And the bible says to avoid suffering therefore if you have arthritic conditions deal with it immediately! Look I understand fear. I once stared down a bear… it was tranquilized but still. Fear is a natural human response but it shouldn't stop you from seeking medical solutions. Schwarzenegger in his typically blunt Terminator fashion warns that stopping movement is the 'first step to death.' And I agree. Resting is rusting! As Chief Movement Officer at Zimmer Biomet he’s preaching the gospel of staying active. Think of it this way: your body is like a finely tuned machine. If you don't use it it gets gummed up. Like Michael Scott’s brain. Speaking of which I should check to see if he is moving enough. Or at all. He is getting old.
Plastic and Metal? Try Cutting Edge Technology Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Zimmer Biomet the company that wisely chose Schwarzenegger as their spokesperson is not just about 'plastic and metal' anymore. They’re diving headfirst into the future with health monitoring tech AI and even robotics. I hope their robotics are better than the ones Michael tries to sell. Every day thousands of people turn 65 and many are hesitant about getting treatment. Well I say get with the times! Science is advancing faster than Dwight Schrute through a paintball obstacle course. Joint replacement survivorship has drastically improved. What used to last a decade now lasts potentially three times longer! That's almost as long as my commitment to Dunder Mifflin.
The Terminator Endorsed? Drug Screening Schm ug Screening!
Apparently getting Schwarzenegger on board wasn’t a walk in the park. Some Zimmer Biomet board members were so shocked by the idea of having him as a spokesperson that they suggested drug testing for the CEO. Idiots! Anyone who doesn’t see the marketing genius of having the Terminator promote medical devices clearly needs a brain transplant… which ironically might be something Zimmer Biomet is working on! But Schwarzenegger gets it. He sees the medical science available today as part of his 'movement' philosophy. It's all about pumping people up and encouraging them to exercise. Just like I encourage the Dunder Mifflin employees with mandatory safety drills. Which have saved lives.
Terminate Your Pain? No. 'You'll Be Back!' Yes.
Schwarzenegger himself has undergone hip and heart valve replacements. He understands the hesitation people feel. As he said people whine about their aches and pains and then…they stop moving! The Zimmer Biomet campaign he leads is brilliantly called 'You'll be back,' a far better name than the CEO's suggestion: 'Terminate your pain today.' As Schwarzenegger shrewdly pointed out it's not about the company; it's about the people. I have to say well done Arnold. A lesson Micheal could learn. I mean who suggested 'Schruten fester' as the new slogan for Dunder Mifflin? ME!
From Governor to Medical Advocate: No Whining Just Moving
The former governor author and all around Renaissance man also connected his message of action to the current political climate. He has no patience for excuses. He doesn’t want to hear that 'Trump is in office we cannot move forward with the environment.' He calls it 'garbage.' My sentiments exactly! When life gives you lemons you don't whine; you make beet lemonade! So if you're experiencing joint problems don't let anything stop you. Talk to your doctor explore your options and keep moving! Exercise exercise exercise! Because as any beet farmer Sheriff's Deputy and Assistant Regional Manager can tell you a body in motion stays in motion. And a well maintained body is a temple. Unlike Michael Scott who treats his body like a garbage disposal. That's what she said!
