A World Away But Not Unfamiliar
Hylians lend me your ears! Princess Zelda here reporting from Hyrule (though I've been observing events in your... 'America'). It seems President Trump is at it again stirring up trouble much like a certain King of Thieves I know. This time the target is our friendly neighbor to the north Canada! Apparently there's a bit of a kerfuffle brewing over trade. Makes me wonder if they need the Triforce of Wisdom to sort this out.
Subsidizing? Or Just Being Neighborly?
Trump claims the U.S. is 'subsidizing Canada by $200 Billion Dollars a year.' Now Link isn't much for economics but even I know that sounds a tad inflated. It reminds me of when Ganondorf claims he's just 'borrowing' Hyrule for a bit. Turns out those 'bits' usually involve a lot of destruction. The article suggests this '$200 billion' includes military protection. Sounds like a Hylian Shield level deal if you ask me. A good shield is worth its weight in Rupees!
Do They Really Need Our... Cars?
The President goes on to say 'We don't need their Cars we don't need their Energy we don't need their Lumber we don't need ANYTHING they have!' Honestly sounds like something a Goron would say after a particularly filling rock roast. I suspect there are people who enjoy Canadian lumber and goods from the country though. I could use some good lumber for my castle renovations after all.
Leeches and Socialist Regimes Oh My!
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick calls Canada an 'economic leech' with a 'socialist regime.' Goodness that's quite a harsh description! I've faced worse from Moblins but still! Such rhetoric reminds me of dark times when the Twili were exiled. Everyone deserves respect even if their economic policies differ. Besides I am sure there are great things about Canada that I should see for myself someday. I've heard their version of Milk Bar is amazing.
Tariffs and Turmoil: A Rocky Relationship
It seems Trump's tariffs are causing a bit of a rift. Canadian exports to the U.S. are down while exports to other countries are up. The article mentions calls for America to 'absorb Canada as a state!' By the goddesses I hope they don't! The world is big enough as it is! No one wants a repeat of the Imprisoning War! Though the mention of Canada reminds me I really should check on the Zora. I need to go see if they're okay.
High Stakes for All!
Bruce Heyman the former U.S. ambassador to Canada says this meeting holds 'high stakes.' Sounds like a boss battle to me! Hopefully Carney and Trump can find some common ground. Perhaps a friendly game of Cucco herding? Though knowing how those birds can be maybe not. Either way let's hope they find a peaceful resolution. After all 'It's dangerous to go alone! Take this' wisdom diplomacy and maybe a fairy or two. Hylia's speed!
