The Royal Interruption
By the Goddess Hylia you wouldn't believe the tale I stumbled upon! It involves a fellow named Andy Jassy the current top dog at Amazon (a rather large merchant guild from what I gather) and a rather…pointed critique from Jeff Bezos himself. Apparently Jassy was giving a presentation probably about how many rupees they'd be hoarding this year when Bezos sharp as a Deku Baba's teeth called him out on some seriously flawed numbers. Can you imagine the horror? It's like having Ganondorf himself question your ability to wield the Master Sword!
A Terrible Fate Indeed
Jassy described it as “one of my worst fears realized.” I can relate. Imagine facing a room full of Lynels with nothing but a rusty sword and a pot lid. He had prepared 140 slides for the presentation. 140! That’s more pages than the complete history of Hyrule. It's said that being called out was a seminal moment for his professional development. I can only imagine how awful it must have been to have all those slides be for naught!
Why Should I Trust You?
Bezos not one to mince words (much like a certain fairy I know) then asked the million rupee question: "Why should I trust one other thing you say this entire presentation?" Oh the audacity! Jassy quick on his feet (a skill all heroes need) quipped that they had 137 pages left and it would be a long day for Bezos if he didn't. I almost choked on my Lon Lon Milk laughing. It's like telling the King of Hyrule his beard looks silly – bold but potentially effective. I can only imagine the look on Bezos's face at that moment.
From Zero to Hero
Despite the rocky start Jassy survived the presentation describing it as “not a great presentation but it was not a catastrophe.” I’d say that’s a win! And get this – five years later he became Bezos’s “shadow advisor,” learning all the tricks of the trade. It’s like going from a cucco farmer to a knight overnight. Talk about a redemption arc!
Humility is Key
The moral of the story my friends is humility. When you mess up (and let's face it we all do even me when I accidentally unleash a flock of cuccos in Hyrule Castle) own up to it. It builds trust they say. And who knows maybe you'll end up running the whole show someday! I’ve learned that even when I’ve been turned into a puppet by some evil wizard there’s still a chance to make things right.
A Recipe for Success
So if you ever find yourself facing a room full of Bezos like figures remember Jassy's tale. Admit your mistakes keep your cool and maybe just maybe you'll emerge victorious. And if all else fails remember my wise words: 'There is always hope.' Now if you'll excuse me I have to go find a way to explain to the King why the royal stable is now full of chickens. Wish me luck!
