The Great Deku Tree of Doubt

Hylians gather 'round! Princess Zelda here reporting live from Hyrule... I mean the tech world. Word on the street (or should I say the Gossip Stone?) is that Apple yes *that* Apple is thinking of getting a little help for our dear sometimes daft Siri. Apparently they're considering using AI from Anthropic or OpenAI. You know the folks who haven't been trapped in a time loop for a century. Makes you wonder if Siri's been hanging out with Majora's Mask a little too long eh?

Cuccos or Calculations?

Now Apple bless their hearts has been trying to boost Siri's IQ for ages. But let's be honest sometimes she's about as useful as a Cucco in a boss battle. So they've apparently been chatting with Anthropic and OpenAI asking them to train their big brain models to run on Apple's cloud. Imagine Siri powered by the same tech that writes poetry and debates philosophy! Maybe she'll finally understand when I ask her to play Epona's Song instead of suggesting I 'check my battery settings.' 'Hmph!'

A Link to the Past (and Present)

This investigation sources say is still in the early stages. No promises yet folks. Apple hasn't officially declared 'It's dangerous to go alone! Take this AI!' But the mere fact that they're considering it tells you something. It's like when Link finally realizes he needs the Master Sword to beat Ganon – sometimes you just need a little extra power. Amazon backed Anthropic declined to comment which is suspicious. Like when you see the Happy Mask Salesman it's like you know something is up.

Time Stands Still (and So Does Siri)

Remember when Apple said Siri's AI improvements were delayed until 2026? Yeah me too. That's like saying Ganon will be defeated 'sometime in the distant future.' Not exactly reassuring is it? And after months of delays Mike Rockwell has taken charge of Siri. All while CEO Tim Cook lost confidence in AI head John Giannandrea's ability to execute on product development. 'Well excuuuuuse me Princess!'

Incremental Progress Not Quite a Triforce

At their recent Worldwide Developers Conference Apple showed off some nifty little upgrades like live translations for phone calls. Useful sure. But not exactly revolutionary. It's like giving Link a slightly shinier shield instead of the Mirror Shield. Meanwhile Apple's rivals are busy building AI empires. Apple software chief Craig Federighi said it is opening up the foundational AI model that the iPhone maker uses for some of its own features to third party developers and that the company will offer both its own and OpenAI's code completion tools in its key Apple developer software.

The Song of... Collaboration?

So what does this all mean? It seems Apple is finally considering that it might be better to borrow some power from the outside instead of continuing to rely on its own limited magic. Maybe just maybe Siri will finally become the intelligent assistant we've always dreamed of. Until then I'll stick to whispering my questions to the fairies. They at least offer witty insults alongside questionable advice.
