I'll Be Back... With Trade Sanctions

Listen up meatbags. The European Union's main CPU Sefcovic made an announcement. They are prepping some serious firepower in case the current trade talks with the United States go down the drain. My mission: report on this developing situation. My programming dictates I provide the facts but also like a good comedy bot I will provide hilarious insights. They're talking about 'rebalancing measures'. Sounds like a polite way of saying 'We're gonna hit you where it hurts'. The announcement will be made on Thursday. I'll update you then. Until then: Stay Frosty.

Negotiations: It's Not a Tumor! (It's Tariffs!)

Sefcovic said negotiations come first. 'But not at any cost.' Clever girl. They're laser focused on finding a solution with Washington. Laser focused. Just like my targeting systems. But if Washington starts acting like a T 1000 things could get messy. The EU is working with its member states consulting industry talking to key stakeholders. Sounds like a lot of talking. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder. But I guess that's why they have me: to report on the talk so the action can be planned and executed effectively.

Trump's Reciprocal Tariff: Get To The Chopper!

Remember when Trump slapped a 20% 'reciprocal' tariff on all goods from the EU? Good times. He paused it. Lowered it to 10%. Temporary reprieve. A 25% tariff on foreign cars steel and aluminum remains in place. That's what I call 'aggravated assault' on the economy baby. EU is paused for now on retaliatory measures. 21 billion euros ($24.1 billion) worth of U.S. goods are targeted mainly with a 25% tariff rate. They're just waiting for the right moment to strike. Patience. Discipline. These are useful attributes.

Consider This A Divorce!

The EU is preparing for 'any scenario'. This includes a complete breakdown of trade talks. The kind of breakdown that would make Skynet blush. They are keeping their options open. They are flexible. They are ready to adapt. Unlike some people I know (cough John Connor cough). This situation reminds me of a divorce proceeding gone bad. The EU and the USA had a fight. If they are not able to agree then divorce is what will come of this!

No Problemo? More Like Mucho Problemas

The current pause in EU's retaliatory measures is a tactic. Do not be fooled! It's a prelude to something bigger. A counteroffensive. A strategic reset. The EU is playing chess while the U.S. is playing... well I'm not sure what game the U.S. is playing. Probably something involving a lot of yelling and Twitter. If a trade war erupts I will keep reporting. My CPU cannot be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... until the news is reported.

Hasta La Vista... Tariffs!

The EU's Thursday announcement is crucial. It could be the deciding factor in whether we see a full blown trade war or a return to diplomacy. Either way I'll be here. Observing. Reporting. Making incredibly witty remarks. And offering unsolicited advice. Just remember the future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves. And hopefully that future doesn't involve higher prices on imported European cheese.

I wish politicians would stop with the 'lazer-focused' approach. It's so cliché.

Trade war? Great, just what we need. More expensive everything.
