Somebody Once Told Me the Money Was Rollin' In...
Well howdy folks! Shrek here reporting live from my swamp where even the mud ain't as thick as this economic mess. Seems like all that shiny tourist dough Uncle Sam was braggin' about is about to take a nosedive steeper than Donkey tryin' to fly. Oxford Economics says we're lookin' at an $8.5 billion drop this year alone! That's enough to buy a whole lotta' onions...and I like onions!
Not Happy Donkeh! Fewer Feet on American Soil
Apparently all these foreigners ain't exactly thrilled 'bout visitin' America anymore. They're expectin' a 9% drop in international arrivals. That means less gawking at the Statue of Liberty and more gawking at the Eiffel Tower or some other fancy schmancy landmark. What's wrong with a good ol' swamp? I tell ya some people have no taste!
Ogres Have Layers and So Does This Problem
Now these fancy economists are blamin' all sorts of things like 'negative perceptions tied to trade and immigration policy'. Sounds like a load of dragon droppings to me! But seriously seems like folks are scared off by all the ruckus about borders and tariffs. Even the World Travel & Tourism Council is cryin' 'bout a potential $12.5 billion loss in 2025. A 'staggering' loss they say. Makes ya wanna cry into your swamp water doesn't it?
Sentiment Headwinds? More Like a Full Blown Tornado!
This Aran Ryan fella from Tourism Economics says there are 'sentiment headwinds' brewin'. Sentiment headwinds? More like a gale force wind blowin' straight into America's wallet! Apparently flight bookings are down especially from Europe and Canada. Looks like those maple syrup lovin' Canucks and croissant munchin' Europeans are findin' other places to spend their hard earned shillings.
A Strong Dollar? More Like a Stubborn Donkey!
And it ain't just the policies! This here strong dollar is makin' things even pricier for our foreign friends. Makes sense who wants to spend extra for the same bucket of mud? Maybe they'll come to my swamp at least the mud is free!
Far Far Away From All This Nonsense
The U.S. Travel Association is predictin' a $21 billion loss in travel revenue by 2025 if things don't shape up. That's enough to buy a kingdom! And a princess! Okay maybe not a princess but definitely a whole lotta' mud pies. So what's the solution? Well I'm just an ogre not an economist. But maybe just maybe a little less barkin' and a little more welcome mat rollin' would do the trick. Otherwise America's gonna be feelin' the pinch and nobody likes a pinched ogre!
