Another Round Another Punch!
Yo Adrian! It's your pal Rocky here reportin' live from the financial ring. Seems like somebody’s throwin' punches at clean energy stocks again! This time it’s because of this new spendin' bill from President Trump. It's got a tax on wind and solar projects that are usin' Chinese parts and it's cuttin' those tax credits faster than I can say 'Yo Adrian I did it!'
NextEra Gets a Black Eye
NextEra Energy the big guy in renewable development took a right hook droppin' about 4%. And the solar fellas? Array Technologies Enphase Nextracker? They got knocked down too droppin' anywhere from 4% to 9%. It's like goin' fifteen rounds with Apollo Creed all over again!
Musk's Madder Than Clubber Lang!
Even Elon Musk that fella with the electric cars is spittin' mad. He's sayin' this bill is gonna destroy jobs and hurt America. He says it's givin' handouts to old industries while beatin' up the new ones. Sounds like somebody needs a good pep talk from Mick ya know? 'Get up ya son of a b**** cause Mickey loves you!'
The 2027 Deadline: A Real Knockout?
This bill ends the two most important tax credits for solar and wind projects started after 2027. Before things were a little more flexible but now? It's like they're speedin' up the clock on the fight puttin' everyone on a tight schedule. One analyst is sayin' it 'compresses project timelines and adds significant execution risk.' Sounds like a real jab in the face!
China's Getting Blamed
And here's another body blow: if these solar and wind projects use parts made in China after 2027 they’re gonna get taxed. It’s like they’re sayin' 'No pain no gain… unless you're usin' Chinese parts!' One guy from Morgan Stanley said this bill is movin' 'toward a worst case outcome for solar and wind.' Ouch that's gotta sting!
Rooftop Solar – Dodging Punches Like a Champ!
But hey not everyone's gettin' beat up! Seems like rooftop solar companies like Sunrun and SolarEdge are doin' alright. They're gettin' to keep their tax credits through 2027 for leased rooftop systems. And First Solar? They're up too because it looks like they get credits for both components and the final product. They’re movin’ like butter these guys! Maybe they're the Rocky Balboas of the solar world takin' the hits and keepin' on truckin'!
