Gonna Fly Now... Or Fall Flat?

Yo Adrian! Rocky here. I gotta tell ya I'm hearin' some things that are makin' my stomach feel like I just went 15 rounds with Apollo Creed. This whole tariff thing Trump's doin'...it's like throwin' a left hook at the economy! They're sayin' it's gonna be 10% on everyone and even higher for some countries like China. That's a lot of punches to the gut for businesses. It's like Mickey always said 'You gotta have the eye of the tiger!' But what happens when the tiger's outta work?

Stock Market's Down for the Count!

The stock market's been doin' the rope a dope since this news came out. S & P 500 dropped 19%! That's worse than when I tried to ice skate for the first time. And these experts like this Michael Strain fella he's sayin' if Trump don't change his mind we might see unemployment goin' up like crazy. He's talkin' 'recessionary levels'! I'm tellin' ya this ain't no exhibition fight; this is for real!

Job Cuts: Feel the Sting!

They're sayin' a lot of big bosses CEOs and all that are thinkin' about cuttin' jobs. One survey said 37% of 'em are expectin' to do layoffs this year. Already this car company Stellantis they laid off 900 workers! That's like hearin' the bell when you ain't ready. These guys at Yale and Brookings are talkin' about retail manufacturing even farming jobs gettin' hit. It's gonna be tough times Adrian. Real tough.

Made in America... Maybe?

Now they're sayin' companies that make everything here in the USA might get a boost. More demand more jobs right? But this other guy Adam Hersh says even stuff that says 'Made in the USA' has parts from other countries. It's like tryin' to find a cheesesteak without cheese! The Department of Commerce says only about half the stuff we buy is really made here. So even that little bit of good news ain't so great see?

Unemployment: Going the Distance... in the Wrong Direction!

These experts are all agreein' that the job losses are gonna be worse than any gains. Yale's Budget Lab says Trump's tariffs are gonna slow down our growth. And this Tedeschi guy says unemployment could go up to 4.7% by the end of the year! That's half a million people outta work Adrian! And another fella Holzer thinks it could be millions! Millions Adrian! That's more than I made in all the Rocky movies combined!

Chaos Theory: When You Don't Know What to Expect!

This Tedeschi guy's sayin' it ain't just the tariffs themselves that are bad it's how they're bein' done. You don't know what the tariff rate's gonna be an hour from now let alone a year! How can a business hire people and invest when they're that confused? It's like tryin' to train a chicken to box. Holzer says it's easy to see the negatives outweigh the positives. So what are we gonna do Adrian? I guess we gotta stay calm save up some money and maybe learn a new trade. Or... maybe I can just make another Rocky movie!
