Professor Farnsworth reports on the volatile tech market, Apple's rollercoaster ride, and the potential impact of tariffs. Oh, and some doomsday predictions, naturally.

A Day the Earth Stood Still... Briefly!

Good news everyone! Or is it? Seems Apple shares did a bit of a whoopsie declining 5% faster than Hermes Conrad can clean his office after lunch. This after a rather boisterous Wednesday where they had their best day since January 1898 back when we were still using steam powered iPhones! It appears the market much like my age is experiencing a bit of... instability.

Trump's Tariff Tango: A 90 Day Stay of Execution?

Ah President Trump. That crafty politician. He announced a 90 day pause on some tariffs. Now I’m no economist (I'm a professor!) but it seems the markets had a bit of a knee jerk reaction surging faster than Nibbler can devour a dark matter soufflé. The Nasdaq Composite had its second best day ever while the S & P 500 recorded its third biggest gain since World War II. But hold on to your hats because it looks like the joyride is over! Everything is going down! Down I say!

Tech Wreck! Everyone is Doomed!

Unfortunately the tech heavy index went south faster than a penguin in July and it's currently down 4%. Tesla Meta Nvidia and many more followed Apple's lead and plummeted. What is this I don't even?

Semiconductors: Chips Off the Old Blockhead!

Those poor semiconductor stocks! Reliant on production outside the U.S. they are struggling from tariffs. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF went down like the Titanic! They shed 7% of their value after a 17% gain. These tariffs are gonna eat into demand like a horde of space termites devouring a wooden spaceship.

Targeted Tariffs: The Sword of Damocles!

And let's not forget those dastardly targeted tariffs looming on the horizon! On Semiconductor Marvell Technology and Apple suppliers Qorvo and Skyworks Solutions all took a nosedive faster than Zoidberg at a free buffet. Advanced Micro Devices Broadcom and Intel? Down the drain! Micron Technology? Oh they just simply died.

Buckle Up Buttercups! It's Gonna Be a Bumpy Ride!

So what's the takeaway my dear students? Well buckle up! Tech is entering a period of major volatility. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go invent something that will stabilize the stock market. Or perhaps a device that makes me younger. Why not both! To shreds you say? Well I'm walking on sunshine!
