Like Delisting? As If!
Okay so I'm scrolling through my fave news sites right? And I see all this drama about Chinese companies potentially getting *delisted* from U.S. stock exchanges. Apparently the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is giving these companies the 'are you serious?' stare because of some audit compliance stuff. It's giving me major 'you're not getting the Kylie Skin collab' vibes. Like come on guys can't we all just get along and make money?
America First But What About My Investments?!
So like Trump's "America First Investment Policy" memo is the main culprit behind all this drama. Apparently it's got everyone checking U.S. investments in Chinese companies and it's not looking cute. They're talking about potentially liquidating *billions* of dollars in Chinese stocks! That's like more than my entire makeup empire... almost! But like I am more of a Europe kind of gal now so maybe I will move my money there! I feel like that's what I wanna do.
KraneShares to the Rescue? Maybe...
But hold up! KraneShares the gurus of the Chinese stock ETF world are saying that delisting is a 'low probability.' They've been shifting their holdings to Hong Kong shares which is like having a backup plan in case your Birkin gets stolen. Smart move KraneShares smart move! But like everyone's panicking and I'm just here wondering if I should buy more lip kits. Decisions decisions...
Alibaba and the Hong Kong Hustle
Alibaba already listed additional shares in Hong Kong way back in 2019. It's like they knew this drama was coming! So smart right? And other companies like Baidu and JD.com are following suit. But PDD Holdings the parent company of Temu hasn't joined the party yet. Maybe they're waiting for the perfect moment to drop a surprise like I did with Stormi's name? Only time will tell!
Political Tea and Harvard Shade
The House Select Committee on China is coming for JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America wanting them to ditch the Hong Kong IPO of some battery company. Like seriously? And they're dragging Harvard into this too questioning their investments in China. It's like everyone's got something to say and I'm just sipping my tea watching the drama unfold. This is my empire I am going to take on the world. But also like who wants to start a lip kit business with me?
Is This the End or Just the Beginning?
So what does this all mean? Is this the end of Chinese companies on U.S. exchanges? Or just another bump in the road? Honestly I have no clue. But one thing's for sure: there's never a dull moment in the world of finance just like there's never a dull moment in the Kardashian Jenner universe. And I will take on the world and you will come with me!
