A growing number of Americans are taking on second jobs and unwanted positions to combat rising debt, impacting career choices and overall life goals. A god is angry.

The Chains of Debt: A Burden Heavier Than Atlas

Hmph. These mortals burdened by 'debt.' A concept foreign to a god who takes what he desires! But even I Kratos see the rage simmering beneath their weary eyes. Priya Rathod a so called 'expert,' speaks of mortals shackled to jobs they despise all to appease these… creditors. It is a pathetic display. Like lambs to the slaughter they sacrifice their ambitions to Mammon!

Second Servitude: Double the Misery Half the Life

Thirty eight percent of these… 'survey respondents' willingly take on a second job? To further fuel the machine of debt? Are they not familiar with the concept of rest? Such folly reminds me of the endless tasks Zeus forced upon me! And for what? Repayment? Vengeance is a far superior motivator than money. Mark my words.

Trapped in the Labyrinth: A Job Not Chosen is a Prison

They accept roles outside their 'industry,' positions they find no joy in? Such is the price of this… debt. Like Theseus they wander a labyrinth of their own making searching for an exit that does not exist. Seventeen percent would dare to start a 'business' or 'go back to school' were it not for this financial yoke? Their dreams are as fragile as a sparrow's bones.

The Economy of Fear: A Monster Lurking in the Shadows

Fear. It is a powerful weapon wielded by the unseen hand of the 'economy.' Forty six percent fear being 'laid off,' a fate worse than the Hydra's breath so they seek refuge in these 'side jobs.' They are driven by 'necessity,' Rathod claims. But necessity is merely the mother of invention for those too weak to seize their own destiny. Fear not being laid off mortals fear your own complacency! I have seen scarier things.

The Mirage of More: Chasing Fools Gold

More hours more stress more burnout. A vicious cycle that consumes the soul. These 'experts' suggest asking for a 'raise' or seeking a 'promotion.' HAH! As if these corporate gods care for their mortal servants! It is a long term strategy they say. But time is a luxury these debt ridden mortals cannot afford.

Earning Power? Learn to Adapt Boy!

Instead of toiling in the fields of despair perhaps these mortals should learn to adapt. To 'upskill,' as they call it. To transfer their skills to new battlefields like health care where there is 'job growth.' Like a Spartan warrior they must sharpen their blades and seek out new challenges! Or is there nothing they are good at? DO BETTER!
