Another Movie Another Mountain to Climb

Hmph. Another spectacle for the masses. This 'F1: The Movie'…they say it stars some mortal named Brad Pitt. Initial projections suggest it might earn… what was it? 59 to 75 million. Paltry. Mere pebbles compared to the mountains I have moved. They compare it to other racing movies. 'Ford vs. Ferrari'? Child's play. But this one… this one cost them $300 million. They've thrown enough coin at it to bribe the Gods themselves. It better succeed; the Allfather is always watching.

Valuation: A God's Favor or Mortal Whim?

The article dares to speak of 'valuation'. As if the worth of something can be measured in mere coin. Formula One thinks this movie will affect their company's value. They believe it will bring new fans. Bah! Foolish mortals and their fleeting interests. But… perhaps there is something to this. 'Drive to Survive' on Netflix apparently boosted their popularity. Still 'expectations are the thief of joy' – let us not count our chickens before they hatch.

ESPN's Ire: A Spartan's Bargain?

Now ESPN a media entity seems reluctant to increase their payment for F1 rights. They whine about lack of commercial breaks and stagnant ratings. These mortals... always counting pennies. 'By the gods,' if they cannot monetize a spectacle they lack the vision. Perhaps the new movie and Apple TV ad free may bring new viewers to F1; it is good to be prepared for any kind of war.

The Reviewers Speak: Is It Merely Another Advertisement?

The reviews are... promising. An 88% rating. 'A surprisingly compelling story,' one reviewer says. They even call it a 'two and a half hour commercial.' Hmph. So the mortals enjoy being advertised to? They are easily led as usual. Still the absence of commercials seems to be the problem. These mortals need their distractions to function. Perhaps that is their weakness... and F1's. Still let's wait for the final judgements.

NASCAR's Lament: Does the Racetrack Dream of Thunder?

NASCAR... they want their own movie. They speak of screenplays and 'drama'. They even hint at a 'Days of Thunder 2'. Foolish ambition. They forget that true drama is forged in blood and fury not on a racetrack. But let them dream. Let them aspire. Perhaps they will learn a thing or two about true spectacle... or perhaps not.

In Other News: Tales of Greed and Deceit

Other matters are spoken of... athletes and their contracts betrayals and financial squabbles. The Boston Celtics... trading players to save money. An athlete suing a company for 'predatory lending'. Mortals... always consumed by greed and self interest. Such is the way of the world. But even in this darkness there is a glimmer of... something. Perhaps not hope but... potential. For what I do not yet know. *sigh* Boy.
